Terrific for action fans

Not really believable

This is the second Gray Man novel I’ve listened to and not sure I’m going to listen to any more of them. The action is good and sometimes intense but there are too many parts that are utterly unbelievable. If a camel falls on you, most likely you’re going to have broken bones. Other parts are really cheesy and things are said by Gentry that you know an operator wouldn’t say. Another thing that is unbelievable is that for a guy who knows at any moment’s notice he could lose his life, he sure does seem to lose focus a lot on the mission at hand. Also, most of the story is predictable. You know that he’s never going to get out of the situation he’s in without being wounded several times, losing pints of blood, and basically hanging on by a thread while somehow killing 50 bad guys.

This book was fantastic except for Chapter 38 when the narrator was changed. The narrator for Chapter 38 was so inferior to the narrator in the rest of the book that I almost stopped listening. Thankfully it was just that one chapter.

One of the most riveting books I’ve listened to

This book sat in my Audible library for several months before I decided to listen. Rogue Heroes is probably one of the top 5 books I’ve listened to in my 100+ book library. The exploits of these true unheralded heroes of WWII were truly remarkable and helped to turn the tide of the war. Ben McIntyre is also a remarkable storyteller and narrator.

Background music in The Overlook was terrible

All three books were good but the background sax music in The Overlook was distracting, annoying, and terrible. It didn’t even go with the story. The music in other Bosch books is fine because it has more to it than just a single instrument.
