We listened to this book and read along. What a poignant story: To Kill a Mockingbird deserves all the praise it gets! The reader was perfection. She really made us love Jem and Scout and Atticus. Themes of justice and injustice are woven powerfully throughout this story. There is also a great old movie to go with this book. Gregory Peck plays Atticus, surely one of the best fathers in all literature. Don’t miss this book!!

I went to listen to an audio version of Great Expectations (not this one) with my kids, and we all just cringed listening to the first page. So, I returned that one and let my kids listen to several audio samples. They picked this one, and I'm so glad they did. Simon Prebble guided us through Great Expectations like a charm. I know I understood and enjoyed this book better because of listening to this wonderful performance. If you're reading Great Expectations, get this one! You won't be disappointed!

Of course! I should have known! I’ve always avoided this book, because I can hardly stand the topic of child abuse. My students and I have read four Jane Austen books this year and now three Charles Dickens books. Go ahead! Take the plunge. I should have know Charles Dickens could not possibly disappoint!!! This reader, I believe, just played the father of Charles Dickens in the recent “Man Who Invented Christmas” movie with Dan Stevens and Christopher Plummer. Jonathan Pryce knocked this performance out of the ballpark! It’s almost unbelievable how many different (and AWESOME) voices he rendered in reading this story! I’m quite pleased that my first time reading Oliver Twist was reading along with Jonathan Pryce. I feel that his performance helped us all follow this story with more clarity and entertainment. To my surprise, there were places in this story where we all laughed out loud! Read it. You won’t be sorry.

I automatically feel sorry for anyone who tells me they’ve never read the Chronicles of Narnia. It feels like my childhood would have a gaping hole in it, that something significant would be missing without these stories. High praise indeed for C.S. Lewis, as he so greatly deserves. Add to that, wonderful voice actors to read these treasures aloud to you, and you’ve hit the jackpot!!! Don’t miss these beloved stories.

Nicholas Ralph knocks this performance out of the ballpark! It’s a special pleasure to hear such a fabulous book read by an excellent reader. He reads the voices so authentically, which I would always appreciate. But considering when I tried to read this book aloud myself that I couldn’t even make out some of the dialect, it was extremely helpful in addition to entertaining to have such a talented actor at the helm!
