Historia
Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, is a big, brawny Highlander who doesn't like being told what to do - not even by his exasperated English mother who is determined to see her eldest son wedded and bedded. However, when he comes to the rescue of an irresistibly beautiful woman, Coll discovers that he may have found his perfect match.... The challenge isn't that Persephone Jones is famous, wealthy, independent, and smarter than anyone he knows. The problem is that she isn't interested in marrying any man.

So how in the world had this cocky, confident cowboy charmed his way into her affections?

Western Romance with Hot Cowboys and Strong Women
Revisado: 12-09-22
The Texas Kincaids series by Indi author Bonnie Phelps. begins with “My Rodeo Man” as Ashley decides it is past time to put some distance between her and her controlling mother who seems to be influencing her to get involved with all the wrong men. Her mother’s fixation on social standing has led Ashley to date a string of selfish bad boys, the latest nearly emptying her bank account before leaving her. So Ashley makes the decision to leave North Carolina for San Antonio where her good friend Lauren, has offered to help her get settled and is confident her smart and pragmatic friend Ashley will make much better choices on her own.
The two women are out dancing when they meet up with Kincaid brothers Nate and Zach. No one can deny the gene pool runs hot in the looks department for the men of the Kincaid clan, but Ashley is determined not to get involved with another good looking bad boy. No more risk takers for her, she wants a man with a solid plan for the future. A man who competes on the Rodeo circuit, no matter how fine looking, is too much of a risk to her way of thinking.
So why is she so drawn to to the handsome rodeo man?
This book is outside my usual reading genres, but it’s good to try something different once in awhile and I love a spicy romance peopled in characters you can bond with, someone who’s story you want to hear all the way to the satisfying ending. This author uses descriptions that make the scenes come into focus while keeping the story moving, making the book light and satisfying. Like many books I really enjoy, I both read the ebook and listened to this recently released audio edition. The narration is good with the reader’s skillful use of distinct character voices and authentic regional accents adding to the color of the story. Best of all, when you finish and want more is to find it is a series with four more stories already available including #2 “My Sexy Veterinarian (the story of Lauren and Nate) already out on audio.

Historia
It's late summer, war is raging, and families are torn apart by divided loyalties and deadly secrets. In this complex and dangerous time, a young French Canadian lieutenant is captured and billeted with a Long Island family, an unwilling and unwelcome guest. As he begins to pitch in with the never-ending household tasks and farm chores, Jean-Philippe de Sabran finds himself drawn to the daughter of the house. Slowly, Lydia Wilde comes to lean on Jean-Philippe, true soldier and gentleman, until their lives become inextricably intertwined.

Another "Home Run"
Revisado: 06-01-21
Susanna Kearsley is one of my favorite authors. She weaves a beautifully rich and detailed story connecting the reader to both her contemporary and historical characters in a way that has the story unfolding through their eyes, while pulling the readers heartstrings. Once again this is a book I will take with me on vacation and re-read just to experience it once more. The audio performance was also excellent. Thank you Susana, Tim and Sara

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait (and Listen)
Revisado: 10-27-16
Ms. Vince has given us a beautifully written if somewhat unconventional love story that has the reader rooting for the main characters to overcome obstacles of war, separation of continents, and miscommunication, just to name a few. It is an emotional journey with Luke, a lonely but dedicated Army Lieutenant with no family ties and warm and compassionate Rowan whose attractive husband began checking out of his marriage when Rowan left her career as an accountant to become a successful romance author. He's a man too weak to share life with a successful woman.
The book is beautifully narrated by Elizabeth Siedt who brings the characters to life and stays out of the way of the story. I was only disapointed at the end because like most good books, I just didn't want it to end. Thank goodness, its part of a series!

Heart-tugging Historical Fiction
Revisado: 02-26-16
The story begins just months prior to the day in World War II era England. It highlights the experience of both British citizens and American GIs during the war, family relationships, racial experiences, interracial relationships, bi racial children, discrimination and the changing times. It follows one individual or family through four generations. Whether because of or despite all these serious matters the story is compelling and both heart rending and heartwarming at turns. Helping the novel deliver on all this promise is the superb narration of Heather Wilde.
