This is my favorite book that I return to often. This is my 4th time reading it and I never fail to learn more. It should be required reading for all.

Historia
In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

True story of an amazing life.
Revisado: 07-07-22
I totally expected not to like this book at all. It was a Book Club choice. I loved it! It was fascinating, interesting, and captivating. She was truly one of the main heroes of WW2. As often happens with women still today she did not get the credit she deserved.

Interesting but the presentation was irritating.
Revisado: 05-25-21
The information on the diet was very interesting but the voice of the narrator was quite irritating to me. It desperately needed a professional.

Historia
In Evicted, Princeton sociologist and MacArthur “Genius” Matthew Desmond follows eight families in Milwaukee as they each struggle to keep a roof over their heads. Hailed as “wrenching and revelatory” (The Nation), “vivid and unsettling” (New York Review of Books), Evicted transforms our understanding of poverty and economic exploitation while providing fresh ideas for solving one of twenty-first-century America’s most devastating problems. Its unforgettable scenes of hope and loss remind us of the centrality of home, without which nothing else is possible.

I found this book to be hard to read and a gift to have been exposed to it. I wasn't naive to the situation of homelessness as I work for years at Legal Aid. this book did an incredible job of exposing the difficult issues.

Historia
Dismissed by a bored author at a book signing, a betrayed young man named David Sedaris made a vow. Someday, when it was his turn at the table, he’d connect with his readers. The experience has been even more revealing than he’d hoped. In this hilarious and perceptive essay, the celebrated humorist reflects on the unusual patterns of forced socialization between author and audience, and the obligations and sometimes surprising returns of not-so-chance encounters with strangers: jokes, secrets, insights, and even charity.

Revisado: 08-05-20
My take away from this painful disclosure was a huge surprise to me. I found myself having more than just a small amount of compassion for the life of Donald Trump and what created who he is today. With that said, it also discloses that he has absolutely business holding the position of the President of the United States.

I found the book to be informative as to why I have never liked her as a performer very much. Perhaps that will change with the insights she has gained. A good endorsement for therapy and being ready to learn from it.
