In a world where irrigation water is contaminated by run-off from cattle feedlots and where food processors cut corners, the food preparation skills we learned from our parents and grandparents are no longer good enough to keep us safe.

Those pesky microbes
Revisado: 06-02-22
I originally read this book on my Kindle, but it's always a different experience to hear it. This is the first non-fiction piece to which I've listened, If you're a fan of fiction audio, do not expect the same diversity of voice. I found the author's narrative work easy to listen to and understand, she has a pleasant voice. I appreciate the thoroughness of Entis as she lays out the evolution of food safety over the last 50 years. There is a lot of information to absorb, but it's explained in a way such that you don't need a degree to understand it. I liked the examples that explained how officials figured out the source of contamination - quite interesting!

I first read the text version of the Silver Star Caper, but I always enjoy going back and listening to the audio version which helps bring it to life even more. I love every installment of the Damien Dickens Mysteries, but this is definitely my favorite plot! I hope to hear more!!

Interesting take on the legend of King Arthur

What an interesting spin on the legend of King Arthur. I was intrigued by it taking place in the future. For me, there was a lot to keep track of but I thought the narrator did an amazing job with so many characters. Well done.

Old School Detective Work
Revisado: 01-03-20
I've 'read' all of Entis' Dickens series and I think the Blue Moon Caper is my favorite thus far. I love the era the series is set in; Dick and Millie have to use their brains/intuition to figure things out. I'm always cheering Millie on when she has her own mystery to tackle and I especially loved the story line between her and Colin. Another big thumbs up to the author.

Mystery that doesn't disappoint!
Revisado: 12-23-18
If you're a follower of Entis' Damien Dickens series and enjoy the old-school detective feel presented with smooth, experienced writing, then you aren't going to be disappointed with this latest installment. Though I already read the ebook, listening to the audio version adds that extra dimension as Lennon's voice is suited to Entis' writing style.
I enjoy the story lines that push Damien and Millie on separate paths, mainly because I love seeing Millie strut her stuff. Listeners get that again in the Gold Dragon Caper. But Damien has an equally adventurous problem to solve in finding and rescuing Artie; there are some great scenes involving this. Overall, this is another well done mystery that leaves me wanting to know what trouble the duo will get into next. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook with no obligation to review.

Absolutely Delightful!
Revisado: 04-16-17
This is an adorable children's story about two young boys who are tasked with saving a kingdom from an angry dragon. The characters are sure to delight young listeners and, as an adult, I got a kick out of the narrator's interpretation of the antagonist, Carinda. I thought all the character voices were great - the narrator does an excellent job. A must listen for little ones!

Smooth, new voice for a great mystery series
Revisado: 03-25-17
For me, Harry Dyson IS Damien Dickens. I find his voice perfect for the part - so easy to listen to. This is the best book yet in the series and Entis does an excellent job crafting a layered mystery, with several plots pulling together at the end. Millie remains my favorite character, and though I loathe him, I enjoyed the return of villain DJT. I look forward to Damien's continued mysteries and recommend this cozy series.

Fun start to a classic detective series
Revisado: 10-20-16
Full of twists and turns, The Green Pearl Caper will leave you guessing until the end in terms of 'whodunnit'. Set in the late 1970s, this mystery has an old school feel to it and in my opinion, the tone of the narrator's voice is the right fit for it. The writing is descriptive and smooth - it's a well done, cozy 'listen/read'. I look forward to many more mysteries for Team Dickie to solve. *I received a free copy of this audiobook with no obligations*

SHOW, don't tell
Revisado: 09-05-16
I know what goes into writing a book - and being brave enough to put it out there. I don't like to give negative reviews, but I just couldn't listen to this. I received a free copy of this audio book and only made it about 20 minutes before stopping - I cannot imagine having actually paid for this.
It was like having a textbook read to you. Absolutely no 'showing' of the story - there's nothing to connect with. 20 minutes and no dialogue, no character development, and nothing to drive me to listen further.

Cozy Detective Mystery
Revisado: 08-18-16
I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review.
And, I jumped at the chance for a listen because I loved the print version. The White Russian Caper takes place in the early 1980's and centers around Miss America, a valuable coin, and a kidnapping. This leads to Millie Dickens (now wife of detective Damien Dickens) stepping up and showing us what she's capable of. Millie is by far my favorite character of the series.
The narrator has the right type of sound for voicing this style of detective/mystery story. For me personally, I would have liked a little more variation in cadence and tone, but if you're in to old-school detective shows that had a kind of dead-pan feel to them when there were voice-overs, this audio book will be perfect for you.
I highly recommend the story overall.
