Sweet, sad tale set in post war Japan. I learned a lot about the military, the Japanese people and their ways. I felt like I traveled back in time to a Japan long gone. Michener did it again.

I loved the imagination and the writing style of Jules Verne! Narrated by the talented Tim Curry, this audiobook version of the novel is a true delight to listen to. Curry's narration is engaging and immersive, bringing Verne's vivid descriptions to life in a way that makes the listener feel like they are right there with the characters.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves classic adventure stories. Curry's performance is truly exceptional and adds a whole new level of depth and excitement to the already fantastic story.

Changed my perspective in life!

What did you love best about The Book of Joy?

This is one of best books (if not the best) I have ever experienced. The love, compassion, teachings and overall structure and performance of the book are truly amazing and transformative if you apply the teachings. These two great Human Beings come through for humanity to truly deliver the tools to find joy in our daily lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you your Holiness and Archbishop for your wisdom, humor and friendship that only inspires me to become a better person for the sake of all.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Both His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu are my favorites! They are both mischievous, funny, sincere, profound, humble and oh so wise. I looked forward to my morning commute to work so that I could listen to these two friends share their teachings and stories.

What does Douglas Carlton Abrams and full cast bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The whole production is a blessing to humanity. I loved it! I cried, I laughed, I learned and I did not want it to end. I have spoken about this book to so many of my friends and family and have applied the teachings that have transformed me to my core!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Honestly, the whole book moved me. I cried at the end because it was over but then realized that this is only the beginning since the practices at the end of the book continue in my daily life.

Thank you to all who made this book possible! I have gifted this book to friends because I feel that this can help many suffering souls find joy. A transformative piece of work! Thank you to all!!!!

Gwendoline Yeo brings The Kitchen God's Wife to life! She is an amazing storyteller, weaving in and out of characters flawlessly, luring me into the story until I was so deeply into it that I did not want it to end.

If you could take any character from The Kitchen God's Wife out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I think I would go out with Auntie Du. I would love to hear about her own life's journey and to especially just listen to her melodic voice (as narrated by Gwendoline Yeo).

Story is great. Narrator is making it very painful

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The story is highly entertaining. I read Kevin Kwan's Crazy Rich Asians and loved it too!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Oh my... I hate not loving the narrator. I truly looked forward everyday to listening to Lynn Chen narrate Crazy Rich Asians, but this narrator Lydia Look is terrible! I want to know what happens, but I feel so irritated by the way she narrates the story and doesn't quite find a voice and style for each character. I don't know if I will get through it honestly. I might have to get an actual copy of the book and read it myself. Such a disappointment...

Could you see China Rich Girlfriend being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes. Lucy Liu would be awesome in it.
