Historia
On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I, and the space race was born. Desperate to beat the Russians into space, NASA put together a crew of the nation's most daring test pilots: the seven men who were to lead America to the moon. The first into space was Alan Shepard; the last was Deke Slayton, whose irregular heartbeat kept him grounded until 1975. They spent the 1960s at the forefront of NASA's effort to conquer space, and Moon Shot is their inside account of what many call the 20th century's greatest feat - landing humans on another world.

Reader needs to do his homework
Revisado: 01-28-20
The story was engaging. But the reader gives a cringeworthy pronunciation of the call sign for Guidance Officer Steve Bales. The call sign Guido rhymes with Fido, as one might think from Guidance officer. But the reader goes Italian and pronounces it Gweedo. Otherwise a competent but not exceptional read.

Historia
After a young woman and a bull are found dead in a dark pasture, Blanco County game warden John Marlin is asked to assist with the investigation. Was it a case of rustling gone wrong? Or maybe a prank turned deadly? Marlin hopes the woman's boyfriend can shed some light on the situation, but he's nowhere to be found. Is he on the run or did the woman's violent brother take matters into his own hands?

Please please please bring back Jonathan Davis!
Revisado: 03-24-16
Got hooked on series when Jonathan Davis was the reader. The current reader, RK Ross, just does accents. Davis brought characters to life. This book another fun story from Rehder. All the fun and nuance ruined and lost by the reader.

Historia
After a high-school football star dies in a late-night motorcycle collision with a wild pig, the boy's wealthy father comes up with a creative scheme to rid Blanco County of the feral pests: He tattoos the ear of one particular pig, then offers a $50,000 reward for anyone who shoots it. Game warden John Marlin is not pleased-chiefly because the bounty is likely to bring a wave of poachers and trespassers to the area. The tension rises even higher when the death of the local boy turns out to be more complicated than it originally appeared.

Bring back Jonathan Davis
Revisado: 04-13-15
The reader is flat awful compared to Jonathan Davis who read the first 6 volumes I listened to. Gone is the perfectly rendered, ever so light Hispanic accent of Bobby Garza, so true to what you hear in life. Gone is the slow, ponderous speech of Billy Don, so adroitly crafted to fit his huge size and mannerisms as Rehder portrays them. The voice John Marlin by this reader bears no relation to the character portrayed by the author. If I were Ben Rehder, I'd be seriously offended by this brutalization of an otherwise fine and entertaining story.

no redeeming value
Revisado: 09-04-11
Had to force myself to listen thru to the end. The ending was like one of those spoofs of melodrama where the dying heroine makes a long speech then flops around allegedly dying and then starts another speech and flopping and then does it all again. And again. Authors couldn't decide between plot and character. Speechifying instead of dialogue. Preston did much better on his own in "Impact" where story and character were tighter and more cohesive.
