Historia
Rusty is a retired judge attempting a third act in life with a loving soon-to-be wife, Bea, with whom he shares both a restful home on an idyllic lake in the rural Midwest and a plaintive hope that this marriage will be his best, and his last. But the peace that’s taken Rusty so long to find evaporates when Bea’s young adult son, Aaron, living under their supervision while on probation for drug possession, disappears. If Aaron doesn’t return soon, he will be sent back to jail.

Excellent follow up Turow book and well read/acted. Enjoyed another Rusty Savage story. Courtroom scenes much more authentic than other authors. Good character development.

Historia
Travis Devine has become a pro at accomplishing any mission he's given. But this time it’s not his skills that send him to Seattle to aid the FBI in escorting orphaned, twelve-year-old Betsy Odom to a meeting with her uncle, who’s under federal investigation. Instead, he’s hoping to lay low and keep off the radar of an enemy–the girl on the train. But as Devine gets to know Betsy, questions begin to arise around the death of her parents.

Typical Baldacci and typical Travis Devine. And I say that with great admiration and appreciation. You get very invested in the new characters - well developed, especially the likeable ones. Excellent plot development and frighteningly realistic with the threats facing our nation today. Love the relationships Travis develops and hope they appear in future books. Well performed - love the multiple voices. Keep up the great work David and team!

Historia
As Adolph Hitler rose to power in 1930s Germany, a growing wave of fascism began to take root on American soil. Nazi activists started to gather in major American cities, and by 1933, there were more than one hundred anti-Semitic groups operating openly in the United States. Few Americans dared to speak out or fight back—until an organized resistance of notorious mobsters waged their own personal war against the Nazis in their midst. Gangland-style.

Interesting history. The reader, unfortunately, has monotonous tone while trying to sound gangster like while mispronouncing words and names.

Historia
Waite "Schoolboy" Hoyt's improbable baseball journey began when the 1915 New York Giants signed him as a high school junior, for no pay and a five-dollar bonus. Based on a trove of Hoyt's writings and interview transcripts, Tim Manners has reanimated the baseball legend's untold story, entirely in Hoyt's own words. Over his twenty-three-year professional baseball career, Hoyt won 237 big league games across 3,845 2/3 innings—and one locker room brawl with Babe Ruth. He writes at length about the art of pitching and how the game and its players changed—and didn't—over his lifetime.

Mediocre Sports Biography
Revisado: 11-21-24
Based on the description of the book, I was hopeful that the biography would give more insight into the players of the 1920s and 1930s. Instead, we get a superficial look at those players and the bemoaning of a flawed man. It sounds like Mr. Hoyt failed to make the most of his own talent through his own failings which were ordinary rather than say the extraordinary failings of a Babe Ruth. I was surprised, given the timeframe is playing in broadcasting career spanned that he did not give him more attention to the impact of Jackie, Robinson and others breaking the color barrier in baseball.

Historia
When a black hole suddenly consumes Israel and as similar anomalies spread across the globe, a conspiracy takes hold: will the holes swallow the Jews, or will they swallow the earth? Against a backdrop of antisemitic paranoia, restrictions on Jewish life, and spasms of violence, Ethan and Ella, Jewish citizens of a nameless American city, meet and fall in love. Ella, a photojournalist, documents the changes in daily life, particularly among the city’s Jewish residents.

Excellent first novel
Revisado: 09-26-24
Rabbi Resnick has a great imagination and his book very frighteningly is timed with increased antisemitism in our society. Excellent character development- you end up caring about each of the main characters. Very thought provoking - makes you think of parallels both in history and in the Tanakh. Not just for Jews. Leaves you wanting to know more.

Historia
Why do Israelis have among the world’s highest life expectancies and lowest rates of “deaths of despair” from suicide and substance abuse? Why is Israel’s population young and growing while all other wealthy democracies are aging and shrinking? How can it be that Israel, according to a United Nations ranking, is the fourth happiest nation in the world? Why do Israelis tend to look to the future with hope, optimism, and purpose while the rest of the West struggles with an epidemic of loneliness, teen depression, and social decline?

New York Times bestselling author Joe Posnanski is back with a masterful ode to the game: a countdown of 50 of the most memorable moments in baseball’s history, to make you fall in love with the sport all over again. Posnanski writes of major moments that created legends, and of forgotten moments almost lost to time. It's Willie Mays’s catch, Babe Ruth’s called shot, and Kirk Gibson’s limping home run; the slickest steals; the biggest bombs; and the most triumphant no-hitters.

Despite Joe’s anti-Yankee bias, a thoroughly enjoyable listen. Very good blend of moments and the asides were just as good. Had me running to YouTube to watch highlights many times during my listening.
