Historia
Neva Bradley, a third-generation midwife, is determined to keep the details surrounding her own pregnancy - including the identity of the baby's father - hidden from her family and co-workers for as long as possible. Her mother Grace finds it impossible to let this secret rest. The more Grace prods, the tighter Neva holds to her story, and the more the lifelong differences between private, quiet Neva and open, gregarious Grace strain their relationship.

room for improvement
Revisado: 02-17-15
The book is probably better read than listened too. the narrator made all the characters in their 30s sound like young teenagers and it was difficult to keep track of which characters she was reading. Overall the book has enough twists to keep it interesting.

Historia
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

But one night on the way to meet Emily, Sandy dies in a tragic accident. The funeral isn't even over before Emily learns she is on the verge of being evicted from their apartment. But worse than the possibility of losing her home, Emily is stunned when she discovers that her marriage was made up of lies.

Weak Female
Revisado: 07-28-14
Where does Emily and Einstein rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The Middle
What did you like best about this story?
The switches between characters points of view.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Dan John Miller and Cassandra Campbell ?
Yes, although sometimes Cassandra got too whispery.
Any additional comments?
It would have been nice if Emily, who is supposed to be a strong female, wasn't projected for the entire book as a weak-spined female who sounds like she is whining and whispering all the time.

Distracting effects
Revisado: 07-28-14
Would you listen to 3rd Degree again? Why?
Maybe, The music and sound effects were very distracting to me. I would have enjoyed the performance more if it would have been just a narrator.
Did Carolyn McCormick do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
It was difficult to tell the difference between characters during conversations between Clair, Lindsay and Cindy. Also, Jill either does or does not have a southern accent... the in between accent is confusing.

Revisado: 07-10-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I finished the book only because I never leave a book unfinished, but the writing is terrible. So much time spent on redundancy and descriptions that detracted from the story rather helped it. The narrator sounds like he's bored.
Would you be willing to try another book from Lisa Marie Rice? Why or why not?
No, the writing is high school level at best.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Used some emotion. Despite the tone changes to signal different characters talking, the entire book seemed monotone replete of any emotion.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
