Historia
Tommy Phan is a successful detective novelist living the American dream in Southern California. One evening he comes home to find a small rag doll on his doorstep. It’s a simple doll, covered entirely in white cloth, with crossed black stitches for the eyes and mouth, and another pair forming an X over the heart. Curious, he brings it inside. That night Tommy hears an odd popping sound and looks up to see the stitches breaking over the doll’s heart. And in minutes the fabric of Tommy Phan’s reality will be torn apart. Something terrifying emerges from the pristine white cloth....

What just happened?
Revisado: 12-07-23
I rarely leave reviews usually just a star rating with little to no comment so here goes…
The story was confusing and many sub plots unanswered. Characters were weak and superficial. I know that a Koontz story demands a willing suspension of belief but come on!
I was on a mission to read ALL the books by Koontz because from Watchers on I was hooked. Many really good stories this is not one.
I’m sorry if this spoils anyone’s choice in a listen but buyer beware if you’re looking for a good Koontz book.
I won’t supply any spoilers and this is only my opinion so if you’re going to try it try it but… be prepared to say “What just happened?”

The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

Revisado: 08-10-23
I read this as well as the others in the series, I’ve watched the television adaptation and now listened to it, I just can’t get enough of it. The characters are rich the story is engrossing. No spoilers, if you like dystopian sagas you won’t be disappointed.

With a twist
Revisado: 11-03-22
I love Luke’s writing but more I love listening to him read his story. I speak American English so the British English always grabs my attention and I am partial to it. The characters I think were not as strong as the story was but I think maybe that’s the point. I mean the characters could be anyone or everyone ,who hasn’t had thoughts of fixing the past. I look forward to more Luke, my library has many more of his books so off I go…

Mind blowing!
Revisado: 03-04-22
Like a “ twilight zone” ! Engrossing from the first sentence. I am fan! I’m a Audible Gold Member so I listen to a LOT of books, this one will remain at top as a re-listen. Luke’s voice is so captivating though I will admit as an American English speaker the British English grabs my attention however the story kept me in. No spoilers but, the depth of plot was so intriguing listening to it unfold , in my head, had me wondering if it was me listening or a passenger! Great job Luke!

Revisado: 10-17-21
If you're a fan of Sci-fi or not this is marvelous. A must read, a must. This series is fantastic and even though written decades ago it holds up great. One of those that will be re-listened to over and again.

Andy does it again!
Revisado: 10-17-21
OK, I'm a fan of Andy Weir. That being said WOW! This captivated me. It's full of technical jargon, per Andy's style, if you read the Martian you'll understand that statement. It does, however, not distract from the story. My emotions towards the story and characters went up and down, that's good. I never got bored. It's just a great story of friendship, loyalty and just downright human decency. Sci-fi at it's best. Thanks again Andy for another winner!

Classic!
Revisado: 07-26-19
This is to date my favorite story in a long time. I am hoping Bancroft has more Tower stories. Narration is premium, story is as immense as the Tower. I will be waiting, eagerly for the next (?) book. I can guarantee I will listen again, to the entire saga. If you're on the fence about this, don't be. It's a great listen. Hard to categorize the genre, not really sci-fi but a bit sci-fi, not fantasy but yes fantasy, Drama for sure, intrigue, mystery. A win win win.

The Tower of Babel is proving to be as difficult to reenter as it was to break out of. Forced into a life of piracy, Senlin and his eclectic crew are struggling to survive aboard their stolen airship as the hunt to rescue Senlin's lost wife continues. Hopeless and desolate, they turn to a legend of the Tower, the mysterious Sphinx. But help from the Sphinx never comes cheaply, and as Senlin knows, debts aren't always what they seem in the Tower of Babel.

Revisado: 07-21-19
Hang on, this journey is epic. The narration is by far right up there as one of the best. The story is compelling and the characters I fell in love with in Senlin Ascends continue to be the companions I want to spend time with. I am IN the Tower now, can't or wont leave until, they do, if they ever do. Delicious story.

Historia
The Tower of Babel is the greatest marvel in the world. Immense as a mountain, the ancient Tower holds unnumbered ringdoms, warring and peaceful, stacked one on the other like the layers of a cake. It is a world of geniuses and tyrants, of airships and steam engines, of unusual animals and mysterious machines. Soon after arriving for his honeymoon at the Tower, the mild-mannered headmaster of a small village school, Thomas Senlin, gets separated from his wife, Marya, in the overwhelming swarm of tourists, residents, and miscreants.

Fanstastic!
Revisado: 07-21-19
I'm not a big reviewer as i take most reviews with a grain of salt, as you might be now, however. This is a fantastically amazing story. It grabs you from the very beginning and you end up getting lost in the story as the characters are getting lost on their journey. It has, to me, a very Victorian, steampunk type of atmosphere ,which I don't think is easy to do in using only words but the author does. The narration is TOP notch. The characters are fleshed out beautifully. I loved them, then hated them, then felt sorry for them then loved them again. It's an wonderful ride and I'm on my way up the tower!
