Historia
Fueled by online trends, a shift in the American zeitgeist has led to the instatement of the Lazarus Act, legalizing the 'recreational use' of human corpses. Ellis Mercer, recently bereaved, embarks on a secret mission to America's first 'necrotel' to recover his wife's remains, before her corpse and his memory of her are desecrated by the motel’s twisted membership.

Historia
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it's served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don't knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing what's buried in the Morrows' backyard. But 19-year-old Michael Morrow isn't like the rest of his family. He doesn't take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees.

Historia
The Mexican board game of Lotería is a game of chance—similar to bingo. However, in Lotería instead of matching up numbers on a game board, players match up images. There are 54 cards in the Lotería game, and for this short story collection you will find one unique story per card based on a Latin American myth, folklore, superstition, or belief—with a slant towards the paranormal and horrific. In this deck of cards you will find murderers, ghosts, goblins and ghouls. This collection features creatures and monsters, vampires, werewolves and more.

Some good stories, some meh.
Revisado: 01-30-25
Last story was absolutely infuriating, took WAY too long to get to the point, all the author did was talk about numbers and out loud I told myself “get on with it already!” What an awful way to end a book. Some stories were good but overall this book was meh.

Historia
They call them wayward girls. Loose girls. Girls who grew up too fast. And they’re sent to Wellwood House in St. Augustine, Florida, where unwed mothers are hidden by their families to have their babies in secret, to give them up for adoption, and most important of all, to forget any of it ever happened. Everything the girls eat, every moment of their waking day, and everything they’re allowed to talk about is strictly controlled by adults who claim they know what’s best for them.

Made me unexpectedly cry.
Revisado: 01-17-25
I own every single book Grady Hendrix has written. I absolutely love his work and I think this one just became my new favorite.
So many heart tugging moments in this book, but the very end made me cry. As a mom and someone who loves witchcraft, it made me a little sad to see how witches were portrayed in this but there was a little redemption at the end.
I pre ordered this book March 2024 and it felt great to listen to it in 2 days.
Thank you!!!

I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to have two serial killers as your parents even when your mom continues to maintain her innocence… this is just the most depressing book I’ve ever listened to. I hope the author and her family are continuing to do better ❤️

Historia
Father Silence once terrorized the rural town of Twisted Tree, disguising himself as a priest to prey on the most vulnerable members of society. When the police finally found his House of Horrors, they uncovered nineteen bodies and one survivor–a boy now locked away in a hospital for the criminally insane. Nearly two decades later, Father Silence is finally put to death, but by the next morning, the detective who made the original arrest is found dead. A new serial killer is taking credit for the murder and calling himself the Outcast.

I realized I just wasted 11 hours of my life…
Revisado: 09-13-24
I usually do not write reviews because I don’t believe that authors should be subjected to reviews from people who don’t like their work even a little bit but WOW. This story was just absolutely terrible. The only thing saving this book is the narrator who is brilliant in accents in different voices for everyone, but man oh man. I hated this book. I feel like I wasted a good chunk of the last two days listening to it. The story is an absolute mess, all over the place, literally makes almost no sense in some chapters and it’s so dragged out and repetitive.
Unless you like boring books where the main character who’s a woman takes her man back after he had an affair and blames it on her working too much, please spare your time and do not listen to this. Not worth it for a second.

Pedophilia disguised as a love story gives me ick.
Revisado: 01-19-23
This book tugs on your heart strings to make you think that what is happening between Wavy and the much older man she is in love with because he "loves and cares for her" is romantic and normal, but then you remember that he met Wavy when she was a little girl. She is only 13 years old when Aunt Brenda catches them in his shop doing inappropriate things, and then she waits for him until he gets out of jail because that's the only family she's ever had.
It gives me the ick. It grosses me out.
I believe this book is pedophilia disguised as a love story to be sold to the masses because it's sad! It's heartbreaking!
No. It's gross. She is a child. No matter how mature they depict her, SHE. IS. A. CHILD.
I wasted one credit and hours of my life to this book I'll never get back.
Yuck.
