I wanted to like this and kept waiting for it to get good. it never did. This felt more like listening to the a guy who refused to hold down a job...sprinkled with a side story about his changing faith that just fell flat.

this was so heart warming , sincere and genuine. Growing up as a Catholic and recently gone on a similar knowledge pilgrimage as her monsignor put it...well I identified so much with her journey and all of the thoyghts and feelings thar came with it. i only wish i could thank her in person for helping me express what this journey has been like.

I wanted to like this book. towards the end this did nothing but anger me and all my respect for the author as a scientist.

I was amazed at how easily he used the word Christians when saying..the Christians in the US who kill abortion doctors, or presents the Westborough Baptist Church as a representative for Christianity however any reference, which were few, to Islam...was always the Taliban or militant muslim. he was careful to distinguish extreme muslim followers but lumped all Christians together. Oh and he stated that Pat Roberts blamed hurricane Katrina on a female comedian...not true. as a scientist, I would have expected him to check his facts, present compelling, and logical arguments. instead he took extreme examples, which any uneducated or low intelligent child could do, to form the basis of an argument. No wonder he doesn't like adversarial debates.

I really wanted to like this book because I love Dick Van Dyke. It started out as a very charming story but then he became the typical Hollywood hippocrate. he said multiple times that he wasn't materialist like bankers or stock brokers. Then talked about his jaguar, his sail boat, chartering a plane, accepting movie roles not because he loved the script but because of the money offered to him. not to mention he tries to portray that he's this good guy and now he's married to someone who's young enough to be his grand daughter.
