Annoying Juvenile female lead

What is going on with the female lead in this book and the last? I love this series! But the last 2 female leads were terrible! I cringed listening to them! ugh. I'm going to have to read the reviews before I waste credits on the next one. Not a fan of the female leads "male voice".

I have loved EVERY book until this one. it is really hard to listen to because the female lead is absolutely unrealistically dumb. I dont even have a better word.
