Historia
Three naïve Italian liberals, exiled in Istanbul, have bungled their instructions to kill a Polish prince - instead, they've kidnapped him and absconded to an unused farmhouse. Little do they realize that their revolutionary cell has been penetrated by their enemies, who are passing along false orders under the code name La Piuma, the Feather. It falls to Yashim to unravel all this - he's convinced that the prince is alive and that the Italians have hidden him somewhere.

My cup of sweet tea
Revisado: 04-13-22
I have enjoyed Jason Goodwin’s books. I had read this one previously and decided to listen to it again. The narrator did a fine job, the plots moved well. I enjoy the characters. If you like mysteries and historical novels but can’t stomach another one on British Regency, try this.

Historia
When the admiral of the Ottoman fleet defects to the Egyptians, Investigator Yashim attempts to uncover the man's motives. But Fevzi Pasha is no stranger to Yashim: it was Pasha, in fact, who taught the investigator his craft years ago. He is the only man whom Yashim has ever truly feared: ruthless, cruel, and unswervingly loyal to the sultan. What dark secret has led his former mentor to betray the Ottoman Empire?

Wonderful
Revisado: 01-28-19
I gave read (or listened) to every book Jadon Goodwin has written, even one on the development of the American dollar. His style engaging, and in these mysteries I love his characters. I love them all. I want to drink with the Polish “ambassador”. I love the evocation of tome and place. Highly recommended

Historia
A body is discovered deep in a cave beneath the Yorkshire Dales. Leading the investigation into the mysterious death are experienced DCI Jim Oldroyd and his partner DS Carter, a newcomer from London. The deceased is Dave Atkins, well known throughout the village but not well liked. While there is no shortage of suspects, the details of the crime leave Oldroyd and Carter stumped.

Painful, unfortunately
Revisado: 01-28-19
Wow I didn’t like this book. I could not finish it. The narration was grating, actually painful, even when I played it from the speaker, not earphones. The narrator used loud, gravelly, gargling sounds. I tried, but I realized I was dreading those voices! And the writing was just bad. Every point was explained to the reader, as we are assumed to be unable to determine what a clue means for ourselves. I had such high hopes and am disappointed.
