This narrator manages to make every female sound the same and every male sounds slimy and monotone. Just a terrible thing to have to grind through. I finally realized I cared less about the characters and more about my sanity.

Fantastic narration!

Finally, an intelligent thriller with no foul language, an addictive story and the best narration I’ve ever heard. He must have acted out at least ten different voices-totally engrossing . Will be reading all this author’s book!

Can’t stand this narrator!

Just can’t finish this book.
Not only does the reader try to sound like a high school
Jock, all the characters sound the same way! The story was not enough to keep me going. Bad!!

An irritating read in 2023

First of all, the author made no bones about where he stood politically ( sounding bitter and condescending toward NRA and Trump, for example), which was offensive to many readers including myself.

Secondly the narrator could not affect other voices very well, so after almost every sentence came the words ‘I said’, ‘ he said’, ‘she said’ which became tiresome quickly and almost sounded like it was written by AI.

Finally I had to skip through the last half of the book because the writer made Mickey Hally sound so arrogant and plot became so obvious but I just wanted to get to the end of it.

I’ve read most of his other books and didn’t have these impressions so I really cannot recommend this book at all.

Could have been half the size

I admire the writer’s ability but I had to skip over some way too long philosophical and descriptive pros. Also, I found the many sex scenes a tedious distraction from the plot, which was good. Don’t know if I’ll listen to more by this author.
