overall a fair critique, I think the author comes to some reasonable conclusions, and is overall correct.

Much of the critique is evidence based, but there are a lot of the author's own feelings on the resulting outcomes for a book so critical of this very thing.

There are also some nonsequiter references to 'marxism', a Jordan Peterson interview, and Israel and Russia are used as examples of the 'correct' way to parent. So, you can assume the author has taken some liberties in interpreting her evidence, considering how uncritical and easily fooled the average right wing reader is.

The book is not explicitly political however, and the author does have some good prescriptions for raising kids that aren't total wimps. 2 stars was borderline, would have been 3-4 had the author cut the problems included in the paragraph above.

most people know what to expect from Bukowski. he's a dirt bag, but brilliant and introspective, and a particularly good writer.

the narrator really stands out here - they change tempo, voice pitch, and inflection to fit the writing perfectly. It feels like they were intimately familiar with every line. They seemingly knew exactly how to deliver each line with respect to the preceeding lines, and the lines to come.

If you're a tournament player in any capacity, this is must-read. the lessons on ICM are extremely well done and applicable to all tournaments, and even short-stack cash (if you're into that kind of thing).

I hope that this book will be passed down through generations and become a timeless classic. I was lucky enough to have this assigned for a class in college, and it was more enriching on its own than 95% of the other works assigned in my entire career in higher education.

I was thrilled to hear the author narrate their own work. They did a great job.

solid strategy advice as usual. james Sweeny is a cash game specialist so consider most advice is tailored to deeper stacked play vs tournament short stacking.

With all the changes in poker in the last decade, not many of the books from this era have managed to keep up. Elements of Poker is a notable exception. There is value here for every poker player, and I'm confident this book is an investment that will pay dividends at the tables.

Alex Fitzgerald is an excellent coach. throughout the book it is evident that the success of the reader is a priority and this book is well worth the money. I look forward to learning more from Assasinato in his other book The Myth of Poker Talent, which he describes in this book as a more in depth look at the broad strokes approaches recommended here.

sky does a great job and is a natural narrator. like most poker books, there are diagrams and images that are necessary for the full experience. unlike most poker books sky makes these available for listeners who dont have a hard copy. this is evidence of the above-and-beyond mindset he has when it comes to writing, teaching, studying, and poker in general.

narration is very robotic and hard to listen to. almost no vocal inflection when there should be. the writing itself includes some insultingly simplified situations of human interaction that don't accurately mirror real life.
