Honest conversation between two strong women-
Revisado: 10-14-24
I love this conversation between two strong women. Both Codie and Danica are authentic, strong-willed, strong-minded and also human. 'Also love the sentiment to "have a conversation" when you disagree with someone, rather than hurling insults or deciding that they're evil because you disagree.

Historia
Growing up in the high desert of California, Jim Doty was poor, with an alcoholic father and a mother chronically depressed and paralyzed by a stroke. Today he is the director of the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford University, of which the Dalai Lama is a founding benefactor. But back then his life was at a dead end until at twelve he wandered into a magic shop looking for a plastic thumb. Instead he met Ruth, a woman who taught him a series of exercises to ease his own suffering and manifest his greatest desires.

Beautiful Story, Helpful
Revisado: 07-27-24
'Just what I needed to hear. Full of authentic, human moments that we've perhaps all felt at one point or another (but thought we should keep them to ourselves out of fear of judgment). Lovely guidance along the way. Definitely one of those books I will read and re-read several times.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Fun Book; Classic Grisham
Revisado: 09-18-20
Fun story. Good legal drama with somewhat predictable characters along the way. Fun twists here and there, especially the ending. Nothing close to "A Time To Kill," but fun distraction nonetheless. Narrator was especially talented with a myriad of well-suited voices! Definitely worth the listen (or read).

Revisado: 07-24-20
Remi Adeleke did a fantastic job with this book. His transparency about who he was , what he went through to grow into the man he became, and his acknowledgment of those who helped him along the way made this story not only a fun read that fills the reader with hope, but also a kind of map of how to go from "here to there". Thank you Remi!

Funny As F! Bought 4 the FUNNY got GREAT ADVICE 2
Revisado: 06-29-20
I Love this book! I bought it simply cause I wanted something funny to lighten my days and crack me up. I Got That. What I didnt expect was some really great life advice ("be honest with yourself about ___", "don't take failure so seriously or permanently..") and encouragement. And it was shared in a way only Kevin Hart could do. Authentically. One human to another. I Loved it! p.s. You'll get a kick out of his alternative term for "trouble shooting" ;-) Enjoy those laughs!

Couldn't finish it due to narrator- sounds robotic
Revisado: 06-06-20
I want to dig into the book and may consider the kindle version, but the narrator's robotic rhythm that sounded like he was reading an IKEA manual was just too hard to listen to for wrong. It's too bad- he has a nice voice. It's just that the way he reads the book sounds like a robot who had no idea what the book is about, and therefore, no idea when and where to make voice fluctuations. It stops becoming a story and adventure if how to "rewire the brain" and instead became something to be endured.
