Historia
A gripping and moving story of loss and love, of hatred and passion, and of horror and hope, set in Spain’s most evocative city during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s and the following decades. Ramon flees rural Andalucia for the apparent safety of Seville. In the city’s Triana district a flamenco dancer, Beatriz, faces a heart rending choice. And in northern Morocco, Izil reluctantly joins Franco’s invasion army to save his family from hunger. When a wealthy landowner becomes a key figure in Seville's oppressive government he seeks revenge, bringing despair. It seems all hope is ...

Surprised and delighted
Revisado: 03-25-25
The story was good, and though I rated the performance with three stars, it deserved five stars for a virtual voice. These voices vary so much in quality that I wish they were identified. Many of them are terrible.
Again the story was very good and I enjoyed listening to it.

The virtual voice was done well; much better than most other ai narration. But the story is very enjoyable and creative

As I said, the narration was easy to listen to. The story’s twists and turns were fun.

Narration much better than expected.
Revisado: 02-06-25
I expected a monotone narration with a bland all-purpose voice Instead of that, the narration was surprisingly good. An expressive female voice. There was a bit of synthetic parts, but overall easy to listen to and sometime I forgot it was ai. Better than some human narrators I’ve heard. The story was interesting, entertaining. Some loose ends. I’m going to try another virtual voice.

Wish I had the book to read too
Revisado: 12-06-22
Intriguing, but not the best book to listen to.
There are lots of characters and I can’t always remember who they are and what they’ve done. Nevertheless, it is an interesting step forward in Costa’s story. What will he do next?

Historia
In the dark, wintry highlands of Lochdubh, Scotland, where the local Calvinist element resists the secular trimmings of Christmas, the spirit of old Saint Nick is about as welcome as a flat tire on a deserted road. Nor is crime taking a holiday, as Constable Hamish Macbeth soon finds himself protecting an unhappy girl, unlocking the secrets of a frightened old woman, and retrieving some stolen holiday goods. Now the lanky lawman must use all his Highland charm and detective skills to make things right.

The Best!

I enjoyed this more than any if the other of Agatha Christie’s stories. The story and narrators appealed to me. Perhaps it is more lively than the others. No famous detective.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

A Treasure Revisited
Revisado: 02-19-22
I read this book many years ago and thought it would be good read it again. What I did not expect was the powerful narration. With that and the content I experienced the book more completely. There are times a narrator detracts from content. This is not one of them.
