I'll Meet You At The Finish Line

Denise Williams brilliantly captures what happens when u push yourself just a little more. She really hooked us up with a FML who is a BBW with confidence. Britta is witty, smart ... driven. The support she has in her corner is great but the fact that SHE was in her own corner makes her even more likeable. Our hero has a gentle supportiveness about himself that's just so endearing. After Britt becomes a client, Wes' willingness to help and that darn heart of his opens the door to communication extending beyond business... the dynamic created between these two was super sweet to watch evolve.

This was a super slow burn but it was entertaining from beginning to end, not to mention ALL the characters seemed like real people and lived relatable experiences and the resources at the end of the book 🔥. I listened and N'Jameh Camara and Teddy Hamilton just added the to a book I'd read again and recommend to a friend.

Ummmm... Can you say YUM?

#ReveiwTyM: This is my FAVORITE book by Ms. Jones (& I have read her ENTIRE catalog). She is an amazing writer and her depiction of black love is unmatched. In this story, we meet Kingston & Asha; 2 individuals who crossed one another's path @ the right time... even if they didn't know it. After beating him in a poker game followed by a one night stand 😜, they meet again when Asha learns Kingston's family owns the casino she works @ & many more in Vegas. Asha's life is in shambles & she is doing all she can to make sure those she loves are taking care of, even though she is not on that list. After their night, she is added to Kingston's list because ... hell, he can't help himself. As a member of a powerful black family in Vegas whose empire is run with strategy, loyalty & poise (though that has not always been their testimony), soft is not a word used in describing this legacy, especially when one of theirs is threatened. And we get a front row seat to how it's done 🥰

Asha and King struggle to fully understand what is developing between them but when they get it right ❤️. I👏🏾 LOVE 👏🏾THIS 👏🏾STORY👏🏾 & I don't even play poker. Ever since the 1st time I read this ( I've read it multiple times - doesn't hurt that my favorite narrators wesleigh_siobhan & jakobidiem KILLED IT), I have recommended it to anyone who would listen. This erotic novel had me lookin @ my hubby like, "hey, big head 😛".

This story is so good that this review doesn’t even do it justice but if you like a fully developed story that's not just about sex but connection, protection & new levels READ THIS BOOK. If you like well developed stories that keep you captivated from start to finish READ THIS BOOK.... You know what? READ THIS BOOK!

Take a Walk With Me

#ReveiwTyM: Short and sweet and to the point. 2 strangers meet at a dog shelter. Both single and dealing with the healing needed to move past disappointing failed relationships. Both in need of a companion. Both promised the same dog. Unlike some in their predicament, these individuals chose to 'co-parent' their new addition and found love.

This meet cute was just that... cute. More than that, they were willing to try something out of the ordinary and found eachother. There is no angst, no real antagonist just a short feel good story. I've also read #Rafe by Ms. Weatherspoon and appreciate her art of story telling. If you're looking for a novella that's a super easy read you may wanna check it out.

Jay & Shannon Lovejoy are picture perfect in the public eye but in private their marriage is in ruins. As the face of a successful love & partnership, the two travel all around helping people mend their relationships & with some contractual agreements coming due they are forced to hide the state of their relationship while fulfilling these commits. This gets tricky once Jay's mistress shows up to a seminar compromising the very facade of the Lovejoy's 'happy home'. When Shannon has had enough, she goes to approach the mistress in her room but someone else got there 1st and let's just say, she is no longer an issue... or is she?

That night sets off a series of events that takes Jay & Shannon on an adventure that will either lead the couple into further destruction or reconciliation.

This story will have you talking out loud 2 these characters as if they're in front of you, or maybe that was just me. I was ready for the mistress to get hers LIKE SERIOUSLY & who else forgot about Carrie? I did (with her little sneaky self). Here, we see a glimpse into the lives of public figures who are struggling behind the scenes but forced with saving face. It was interesting, filled with pain & love but also drama & redemption. These 2 are forced to not only talk about it but be about it.

A first time author read for me & it was pretty good. Janina Edward did a great job. If you like to second-chance romance with a little bit of crime, check this out.

Happily Ever AFTER

#ReveiwTyM: Heather is out with her girls @ a concert where her teenage boyband crush is performing amd after all this time he still makes her tummy flutter. She catches his eye and she does something she never allows herself to do... go with the flow. But after a 🔥 night with the rockstar, she bolts. Lucky for her, she doesn't get far because Eli is a dream. He is kind, determined, encouraging, understanding, loving and VERY CLEAR about his intentions. I've said before how sexy communion is and Eli has it in ♠️s.

As Heather learns to balance what this new romance could mean while caring for her priorities, Eli is there in any capacity needed. The deeper they fall, the more you root for them. The subplots are good too. Like how could you not feel for Stephanie 😭?! Her decline was 💔. I listened to it on Audible and the emotion the narrators projected had me in tears @ times.

This is technically a second chance but Heather never stood a chance, Eli was never going to let her go. Their attraction was instant. Their chemistry was off the hook. But more than intimacy, their love was precious and beautiful. This is my favorite book in the series and I told Ms. Michaels I would review it so here it is. You should read and review it too 😜.

Ahmalee is Sumthin Else

#ReveiwTyM: I have yet to read Flicker but read the first 2 in the series so here we go. I'd first like to say that Ahmalee is a special human. One whose heart is so pure that doing the things she did just came naturally. Had Cain Wesley been a creep, this could've gone a completely left. Thank goodness he wasn't because Ahmalee's guard was ALL THE WAY DOWN.

Cain is a 'homeless man' looking for food. After the initial shock, Ahmalee opens her life to him; feeding him & giving him a place to stay as he gets back on his feet. Accepting the help, Cain becomes a comfortable presence; helping out around the house, becoming a friend & someone to come home to. Only this is, this relationship was built on honesty with a huge secret hovering in the background. I mean... the feelings were honest and genuine @ least. Besides, the secret is not that he has a whole 'nother family and not really a deal breaker but (in my opinion) its the deceit thats the issue. The confession took ENTIRELY TOO LONG. He had SO MANY opportunities but I digress. Ahmalee's goodness also makes her naive. So much internal dialog in this book that I found myself like, "c'mon girl. Ask out loud!" Or "just tell her!" Anyway, if a book can evoke some type of emotion, the author has pulled you in and that's always good in my mind.

This was an interesting story. Reminding you that we are all different and our daily actions can change the loves of others as well as ourselves. Flicker remains on my list but it's not my next book. It'll be good to catchup when it's time. Until then...

PS. This book ends on a cliffhanger .

They are not only stories of love but they are completely tied to an ongoing story that only helps the bonds with their women grow stronger. Sure they're the bad boys from the wrong side of the tracks who never knew love of any kind but once they have it, they never let it go. Meet:

I love branching out and reading new authors. This is my first read by Julie Kriss and I have to say. I was not disappointed (except the first book - the female narration was hard to get through).

#ReviewTyM: 2 people meet on a flight home from London. The attraction is heavy, the banter is fun & when they are delayed due to weather, the #Stopover unites them in a night of passion that neither can forget. A year passes & the young, ambitious Emily gets her dream job in NY... it just so happens that her one night stand is the CEO of said company. Jameson is so busy & focused on his family business' success that relationships take a back seat until the new employee walks in for a meet and greet that catapults his focus to something more.

I'm not gonna lie, this story was a bit annoying but I just had to keep reminding myself that Emily was young & inexperienced. She was willing to settle for less than she deserved & shared too much of her business to people she just met. It all worked out and if you too can get past that, this was a good story. Emily was good for Jameson & helped him to put life into perspective. She was pure and unbothered by his wealth. All she wanted was his time & for him to live a less stressful life. He is a boss, used to control & giving his all to anything he's decided. Unfortunately, once he decides he wants her, outside forces work against their happiness & threatens to devolve what they've worked to build. They had a lot to work through but in the end, love wins.

This is my first book by TL Swan. It was long and repetitive but an easy read. The dual perspective novel had very little of the male POV but when you get it, its definitely a treat. There was good character development & the storyline left you rooting for a HAE.

Tristan has me walking around singing 🎶When a Maaaaan loves a woman🎵 because his love for Claire is unmatched. Billionaire playboy and heir to the Miles Media empire, never did he think his perfect woman would be a non-'handbag', widowed single mother of 3 boys but she is his match in every way. Though she struggles to release the memory of her husband, Tristan makes Claire remember who she was before. Like his brother before him (Jameson, The Stopover) when he decides he wants something, he stops at nothing until he gets it. Slowly but surely he makes himself at home with this already-made family and Claire has to overcome the past to welcome her future.

This story was sexy and funny. The boys give Tristan a run for his money *good thing he has A LOT of it* and Claire makes him want someone who doesn't just look good on his arm but feeds his very existence. Their love is ever growing, passionate and raw. Their growth together is steady as he enters her world understanding that not only does he have big shoes to fill but brought his own shoes to the party. This story was SO GOOD. Tristan steps up in a way that is natural and just what the family needs.

Grief has no expiration and the sensitivity to that process is important. While that is clearly supported, Tristan refuses to compete with a ghost. Claire is faced with the choice of allowing him in or living in the past. You should read 2 c which one she chooses 🙃.
