Historia
Remy Pendergast, vampire hunter, and his unexpected companions, royal vampires Lord Zidan Malekh and Lady Xiaodan Song, are on the road through the kingdom of Aluria again after a hard-won first battle against the formidable Night Empress, who threatens to undo a fragile peace between humans and vampires. Xiaodan, severely injured, has lost her powers to vanquish the enemy’s new superbreed of vampire, but if the trio can make it to Fata Morgana, the seat of Malehk’s court—dubbed “the Court of Wanderers”—there is hope of nursing her and bringing them back.

Adore these characters
Revisado: 04-07-24
Silver Under Nightfall blew my mind in the best way, and while Court of Wanderers is quieter and gentler, I was so very happy to see some of my all time favorite characters find so much happiness. I often don’t have the stomach for all the pain and suffering that shows up in the second book of a fantasy trilogy or duology, and I suspect it takes a skilled writer to NOT use additional trauma to advance a plot. Love our sweet little Remy and so delighted to leave him so happy and well taken care of. (Note: the narration is GORGEOUS)

The Ravani kingdom was born of a prophecy, carved from unforgiving desert sands and ruled by the Ravence bloodline: those with the power to command the Eternal Fire. Elena Aadya is the heir to the throne—and the only Ravence who cannot wield her family’s legendary magic. As her coronation approaches, she will do whatever it takes to prove herself a worthy successor to her revered father. But she doesn’t anticipate the arrival of Yassen Knight, the notorious assassin who now claims fealty to the throne.

Incredible world building, morally grey characters, romance—why aren’t more people talking about this book?
Revisado: 01-12-24
Why aren’t more people raving about this book? Nearly five hundred pages of remarkably rich world building, tense plotting, twists and turns, and rich, remarkable characters that get under your skin. Stands shoulder to shoulder with all the best fantasy. Can’t wait for book 2!

Historia
For years, Harris Hayes has taught his daughter, Aggie, the ways of the northern woods, where she sketches nests of wild birds as an antidote to sadness. Then her depressed, unpredictable mother forbids her to climb the trees that give her sanctuary and comfort. Angry, ten-year-old Aggie accidentally lights a tragic fire and flees downriver. She lands her boat near untamed forest, then hides among trees and creatures she believes are her only friends—determined to remain undiscovered.

Reminds me of Leif Enger
Revisado: 02-02-22
This was such a beautiful book. It's literary fiction with a really well-crafted plot I kept getting lost in. I loved the two main characters' strength and resourcefulness, and could relate so much to so many of the themes: working through mother-daughter difficulties, dealing with controlling/harassing men, grief and anger...Cheryl's ability to create atmosphere and her attention to the natural world reminded me of Peter Heller and Leif Enger, two of my favorites. Just really, really beautiful.
