Historia
Against the backdrop of worldwide, unexplainable natural disasters, Dr. Virginia Marilyn Edwards (Emmy Award-winner Kerry Washington) seeks out Agent Scott Thomas (Emmy Award-winner Laurence Fishburne) at a secretive government headquarters. Virginia claims these events are signs, and unless Agent Thomas helps her, she believes things will only get worse. Her desperation is dialed up higher with a shocking proclamation as she stands before him pregnant, weak, and weary: “Agent Thomas,” she says, “I believe I am Mary.”

Cool concept, Great performances, Poor editing
Revisado: 01-24-23
I appreciate what was trying to be done here, and I'm not saying I could do any better myself, but I found it jumped around a lot, and weird details were included (or left out), that made it difficult for me to stay immersed in the story. I think it needed another run through by an editor with an outside perspective who could have helped point out some of these gaps and made the script more cohesive. There are other QCode productions that I personally found more engaging (like the Left/Right Game), but this was still worth a listen, if only for the amazing performances.

Historia
How far would you go to get your family out if you were convinced that America was doomed? Would you build an underground bunker and stockpile it with ammunition and supplies? Buy a cabin in the woods and start growing all your own food? Not if you were obsessed with boats the way Terry Bailey is obsessed. Terry has an escape plan to sail to the very ends of the earth; the only real option left to survive what's coming, according to him.

Shattering the "boat life" dream
Revisado: 11-09-22
The story is half ideological rant, and half a description of what it takes to build and travel via sailboat. The adult characters do nothing but complain the whole time. Honestly, a pretty toxic relationship. The narrator had a great voice but weird cadence that caught me off guard pretty often. Overall, worth listening to if you're interested in living on a boat (aka it's constant work).

Plot, style, narration -- everything about this makes the story seem so relatable, which is terrifying, given the implications.

Revisado: 03-19-22
I've not seen Hellraiser (yet), but always thought of it as a cooky 80's film. But this story is amazing, and well-worth the listen. A wonderful, twisted universe delivered in a clear and believable way. Highly recommend.

Historia
In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

A highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. There is no cure. In a few days, 90 percent of its victims are dead. Shocking, frightening, and impossible to ignore, The Hot Zone proves that truth really is scarier than fiction.

It feels like Card got to reinforce the ethos of his original book with this new script -- a new creative outlet for him.

Historia
Legendary personal development icon Jim Rohn explains the parallels between life and the changing seasons. To realize that the seasons will change without fail and what we can do to utilize each season to get the greatest rewards. This popular book is based on the parable of the sower and the reaper. What to do in one season to ensure success in another season. It's great for those who are going through difficult times personally or financially, because it helps them see that this "winter" in their life will eventually give way to "spring."

Surface Deep
Revisado: 12-06-20
I don't think I've ever written a bad review of a book, but this one simultaneously seemed both exceedingly shallow and excessively preachy. The metaphor of planting, tending, and harvesting in the different seasons of life is fine. But the author saying that anyone who ever gives up -- even under the most difficult of life circumstances -- is "lazy" and essentially disserves their misery? Jeez. Talk about a lack of empathy. Makes all the other advice seem rather disconnected from reality.
