Second in a great series. Ballerini's performance is stellar, as always and the storyline has several twists and turns but leaves you on a cliffhanger. Don't read this book if you can't commit to the next in the series!

Starting the book I felt it was going to be another ho-hum military verses aliens novel... how wrong I was! Sir Charles coming on the scene took this book to a whole new genre and I am here for it! This book is included in my membership but I'm now going to burn through credits buying the rest of the series.
Stay safe against those bloody flounders!

I wasn't impressed when I first started the Detective Cross series and almost didn't make it through the first book. Stick with it! Each book gets better and better, through character development and lots of twists and turns in the storyline. 'The Teacher' has two main storyline but is easy to follow and certainly a page turner!

I wasn't really into this book initially but listened because it was included in my membership. The constant explaining of Cross's autism is overdone and repetitive. Stick with it though because each book gets better. The characters develope, the storylines thicken and by book three of the series you'll be hooked and giving 5 star reviews!

Temu version of Jaws

Think low budget 'Jaws' only featuring a man-made serpent creature. The characters are annoying at best and when it got to discussing the size of a boat, (I was waiting for the line "We're going to need a bigger boat") I bailed. I've listened to one other book by Michael Cole and it seems they're all the same; just switch out the characters, beast and setting and you have the same book.

Once you've read one title in this trilogy, you've read them all. Each is the same story happening to different characters simultaneously at different locations. This book is the most 'stand alone' title of the three and is a fair, but not gripping listen.

Take your time. You're going to have to switch back and forth with these ones.... Not Nick's best work, but might improve with outside influence?

I fell asleep no less than 6 times listening to this book. After backing it up and re-listening, I still don't really know what happened in the end. Thankfully it was an included with membership title so I didn't waste a credit.

How many different ways can you pronounce Megalodon? Sometimes 3 in a single sentence! Apart from that, a decent listen but a disappointing ending.

Tom Taylorson does an excellent job of narrating the characters from this series. The Joe Gunther books are like chewing gum; comfortingly repetitive and familiar. I enjoy listening to them while doing other tasks as I don't have to concentrate to keep track. The only main character I find annoying is the protagonist's love interest, Gail Zigman. She is portrayed as a patronising rich Liberal who tells everyone else what to do and 'raises awareness' for causes while missing signs of trouble with and failing to help her own loved ones. Hopefully she is written out of the series in later books.
