This isn’t my favorite from this author. The characters weren’t super likable and I just didn’t enjoy it as much as some of her books. It felt slapped together.

Disappointing

This wasn’t a bad book, but it was my least favorite for Penny Reid. I was disappointed. The story felt like it dragged on and then the ending felt anticlimactic.

I love listening to Joy Nash, the female narrator.

I would give the male narrator 3 stars. I thought I’d get used to him, but I disliked him up until the end. My mind kept wandering while he was reading and I never forgot that he was reading a book. At one point my mind wandered when I imagined how I could do a better job narrating and I should start a YouTube page reading picture books for my first graders. I had to rewind 30 seconds so many times because I wasn’t paying attention.

Entertaining

This was a light read. Not lol funny, but I caught myself smiling and it was interesting enough to keep me listening. Well worth listening to with Audible Plus.

Could’ve been much better

I’ll start by saying I couldn’t get over wondering why there wasn’t a male narrator for the male part. For the most part, the narrator does a good job with the American accents, but it distracted me that there was the same female narrator for the male voice. I think it’s odd to do that with what would typically be a two narrator audiobook. I really did like this narrator, though. She did a great job.

The story could’ve ended much sooner. At one point I looked at the time left and was surprised there were still two and a half hours left.

The third reason I gave three stars is because the whole storyline was so improbable. Usually I’m able to suspend belief if the story is funny and moves at a fast pace, but this one did neither.

I couldn’t finish it

I just couldn’t get into this book. It was slow and neither of the characters really made me want to find out more about them enough to finish the book.

There are exercises and pauses for reflection that are hard to complete in audio format. It would be better to have the printed book. There is an option to download the exercises.

Not what I wanted

This book seems to be geared toward helping churches (rather than individuals) be relevant to people interested in learning about God. It's a little outdated, too. Not bad, just not what I was looking for.
