My favorite series from my youth.

I first read the "Sword Books" as a teen and fell in love with the fantasy/sci-fi genre.

Saberhagen is great with story, color, character, and imagination.

The narrator is a bit hypnotic at times, but conveys the story and mood well.

It's a great series for road trips, painting, yard work, or just sitting around relaxing.

what a concept! I won't give away too much but the name says it all. it makes me appreciate how blind people must feel in the first place, but it's so so so much deeper than that. it's so nice to read something interesting for a change. give it a try I'm sure you'll like it!

Meh. Interesting, but not an attention grabber.

I like the subject and the overall concept but it was hard to finish. It's such a boad topic and this is presented as science, not a "get happy quick" gimic. So, for me, it added perspective about happiness and some reference to studies about perceived happiness.

The book is well written and well presented. It is just a lot of material that can be hard to integrate into your life simply due to the complexity of what makes us happy.
BUT, it has made "happiness" a little less of a mystery.

Great fun, sciency story, space adventure.

If you liked The Martian you'll like this. Totally different story with the same humor, cadence, level of science dribbled in. Great narration. This once kept me totally engaged to the end.

Good geek fun... kinda hypnotic.

I like to learn technical stuff and this is an interesting, well presented, well researched/accurate information. I like the storytelling format be as well.
To be honest it gets a bit tedious be to listen to an I had to relisten to a lot of it to absorb the info. I actually missed my freeway exit more than once as I became hypnotized by the cadence of the reader.
But, it is a fascinating book! great info, fun background info and definitely mentally stimulating for us geeks!

Another fun ride

I've become a big fan of this author. Another fun Series!
Great voicework that is consistent and not distracting. An easy listen perfect for traffic, getting settled before bed...I actually listened to all 3 books while re-doing my hardwood flooring during the Covid lockdown. It is good sci fi without being too technical. It is meant to be fun! Enjoy!

Poorly written and more poorly narrated...

Seriously. It is about as complex as if a 16 yo virgin was writing an adult film script. Very little use of the erotic thesaurus. The words are simple and any lack prose or emotion.
Worse is the narration. She has a 3 -5 word pause cadence that usually misses the mark for any erotic emphasis. "She gets out of the car...and walks toward the door...then opens it.". Hot, right?
The narration is almost as if she is jokingly reading the dictionary and trying to make it sexy.
Pass.

Brain cleanser

I love this genre for it's silly simplicity. This series is fully entertaining and I truly hope he keeps writing them.
These are perfect for road trips, mowing the lawn, painting a bedroom, or riding the bus.
Nothing deep here. Just space Marines cracking on each other and blowing stuff up. Behold the magnificence!

Sappy, uninformative, meh.

It was recommended to me and I was told I'd never eat octopus sushi again.

it's just a bunch of memiors about how un-human-like octopus are and how strongly she wants to anthropormophize them. Not anything surprising or amazing. My gerbil amazes me, our pet duck delights me...maybe I should write a book?

I actually really enjoyed it.

It was well written. A very predictable and completely derivative story and world. But, it is well written and well described, which makes it a perfect audiobook. The performance is also pretty good...better at 1.25 speed.
