Fake accents were too annoying
Revisado: 10-06-22
When i listened to the sample, i noticed the forced attempts at French and American accents, but i thought it wasn't too intolerable. However, after several hours of cringe-y dialog, i couldn't take it anymore, and had to return it.

Slim’s phone doesn’t ring very often, so on the rare occasions that it does, he’s usually in for an adventure! This time it’s a search and rescue operation for Miss Viola’s father, Woodrow, who went missing while making his daily rounds of the pastures. Unfortunately, the mission led by Hank, Slim, and Deputy Kile comes to a screeching halt when an unexpected Texas downpour turns the ranch roads to mud and strands their vehicles in a ditch. Now, it’s up to Viola to save the day and get the search team back on track.

slow start, hilarious finish!
Revisado: 09-28-22
the bulk of action was actually a little slow for Hank (the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars), but the resolution of the problem is just too incredibly funny to miss out on! highly recommend, as usual!

outstanding!
Revisado: 05-23-22
my wife absolutely loved it all! Emma Thompson was especially superb in her narration of Northanger Abbey. Her interpretation of Austen's irony and the "Heroine's" imagined drama surely would have been enjoyed by Austen herself.

Voice too irritating to finish
Revisado: 04-23-22
I love Jane Austen, but I'm afraid I found the narrator's voice and style to be so irritating that I couldn't get past just a few chapters. While Ms. Larken has excellent diction that is clear and at just the right pace, I found that her high-pitched voice and reading style came across to me as whiny, sarcastic, and consistently portraying ALL characters (good OR bad) with a voice my mind connects to bratty, mean children. (If I were to read it, I'm sure MY voice would annoy some listeners, so please understand that this might be just my own preference .) I had to return the book within a day because it was so unpleasant to my ears.

Difficult to listen to
Revisado: 08-29-20
The reader has very odd pauses in his reading that make it hard to understand. Also between his deep voice and his french accent for the characters it compounds the problem. I don't think I'll be able to finish listening to it. I think I( would rate the story higher if I could understand more of what was being read
