Moving and Insightful

Wil Wheaton did a fantastic job narrating this book. The delivery was humorous, angry at times and also very sad, just as if you were in a private conversation with the author himself.

The story, Wil’s story, is a fascinating insight into the world of child actors. Then we share his success, failure, frustration and his emotional journey throughout the rest of his life. Interestingly we get to compare Wil and his opinions nearly 20 years apart as he annotates his earlier version of this book, then adds to and updates his story so far.

Wil, is brutally honest and open with his feelings, and his battle with mental health, which in my opinion is extremely brave. This candor I’m certain helped me gain a deeper insight into my own mental health issues and I am sure will help others.

I feel like I got to know Wil on a personal level, he made me laugh and smile at times, and he made me emotional. I also got angry along with him as he recounted his abuse. I rejoiced with him in his success and felt the pain of his rejection.

This book is not just an entertaining read (listen) but makes one think, a life lesson or lessons. So well worth a 20 hour visit with him.

Be transported to the Victorian era

Thrilling, heartbreaking, intriguing, intense and romantic, this adventure has it all. Hero’s, villains, vagabonds and a whole cast of characters. Some will make you laugh, sigh, cry, get angry, feel pity, feel love and romance without being too sweet.
A must listen for all!
