Historia
Maps have a mysterious hold over us. Whether ancient, crumbling parchments or generated by Google, maps tell us things we want to know, not only about our current location or where we are going but about the world in general. And yet, when it comes to geo-politics, much of what we are told is generated by analysts and other experts who have neglected to refer to a map of the place in question.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

This should be required reading for all HS students before graduating, a clear depiction of human nature and societal dynamics that is so much more than racial or class tensions

the final volume was a huge downer vs the first 2
Revisado: 11-11-20
I am not sure of the reason for such dramatic drop in overall quality of the book vs the first two volumes, maybe they ran short on time and/or work ethics, audio performance was adequate but there were quite a few pronunciation errors and gaffes within the reading, my biggest issue is the utter lacking of a pdf which has been part and parcel for any of these language learning books, I guess they were just too lazy to use a computer software to transcribe it?! Completely unacceptable

Glen Runciter runs a lucrative business - deploying his teams of anti-psychics to corporate clients who want privacy and security from psychic spies. But when he and his top team are ambushed by a rival, he is gravely injured and placed in "half-life," a dreamlike state of suspended animation. Soon, though, the surviving members of the team begin experiencing some strange phenomena, such as Runciter's face appearing on coins and the world seeming to move backward in time.

Original concept / poor overall storyline
Revisado: 12-17-17
On the positive : really love the 1/2 life and the pysch concepts, the authors of ex-heroes and ready player one defintely stole lots of the same materials
Overall storyline was more hashed together, felt the book be better served if it was much longer or quite bit shorter, at the current length it was hard to keep the interest focus on the hapless antihero joe or build up any empathy w any of the characters

Historia
Dwight B. Wilmerding is only twenty-eight, but he’s having a midlife crisis. Of course, living a dissolute, dorm like existence in a tiny apartment and working in tech support at the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer are not especially conducive to wisdom. And a few sessions of psychoanalysis conducted by his sister have distinctly failed to help with his biggest problem: a chronic inability to make up his mind.

unique and neurotic is always good..pretending to be unique and neurotic is terrible. This book has no depth, is circular and read like a 3rd rate cable show.

the story is devoid of soul
Revisado: 01-23-04
It is a great read for those grew up in prep-school, have tea parties and play polo. This is stereotypical but this book is truly stuffy, unimaginative and old. There is utter lack of storyline / passion, what fills in are the finely tuned small talks of a to-be extinct species. I can not believe the rating this book got from the critics - my already shaky confidence in their reviews just reach a new low. This was a terrible waste of time.
