Historia
On the last night of 1937, 25-year-old Katey Kontent is in a second-rate Greenwich Village jazz bar when Tinker Grey, a handsome banker, happens to sit down at the neighboring table. This chance encounter and its startling consequences propel Katey on a year-long journey into the upper echelons of New York society - where she will have little to rely upon other than a bracing wit and her own brand of cool nerve.

Miscast Narrator
Revisado: 08-04-11
Rebecca Lowman, whose reading contributed to making Anthropology of an American Girl kind of a bummer, is, in my opinion miscast as reader of this book. Her voice and manner of speaking are too contemporary for the period of the story. I haven't finished listening yet, so will reserve judgment.

Historia
Kim Edwards now gives us the story of a woman's homecoming, a family secret, and the old house that holds the key to the true legacy of a family. At a crossroads in her life, Lucy Jarrett returns home from Japan, only to find herself haunted by her father's unresolved death a decade ago. Old longings stirred up by Keegan Fall, a local glass artist who was once her passionate first love, lead her into the unexpected. Late one night, as she paces the hallways of her family's rambling lakeside house, she discovers, locked in a window seat, a collection of objects that first appear to be useless curiosities, but soon reveal a deeper and more complex family past.

Both Story and Narrator Got Better
Revisado: 01-27-11
It took me a while to get into this book, and I really hated the narrator for most of the book. But at some point and 2/3 in, I got hooked into the story. Narrator was still flawed but not as annoying as earlier. I agree with the reviewer who said sing-song voice. Also overly dramatic.

Good book; Weak reader
Revisado: 05-13-10
I read Game Change and am now reading Audacity to Win. I'm not getting a whole lot of new information so far, but it's interesting to hear it from the perspective of the Obama campaign. I DO NOT like the reader of this book. He speaks way too slowly, and I agree with the reviewer who commented on how he does female voices. Laughable!
