Historia
Rome, 1943. With the fall of Italy's Fascist government and the Nazi regime occupying the streets of Rome, British ballerina Julia Bradbury is stranded and forced to take refuge at a hospital on Tiber Island. But when she learns of a deadly sickness sweeping through the quarantine wards--a fake disease known only as Syndrome K--she is drawn into one of the greatest cons in history. Alongside hospital staff, friars of the adjoining church, and two Allied medics, Julia risks everything to rescue Jewish Italians from the deadly clutches of the Holocaust.

Predictable but nice short story
Revisado: 08-13-24
I wanted to like this so much more but very early on it was apparent what the outcome was. The jumping back and forth wasn’t a great add to the story- it became hard to follow several times whether that was before or after the protagonist was sent off to war or was that after he came home or ???? It didn’t add to the plot so much as it kept the confusion going

Narration is mechanical but good information
Revisado: 06-02-24
I love Egyptology and so wanted to push through but I don’t think this work lends itself to audiobook. The narration was very “jerky” - somewhat mechanical and distracting, and citations made it somewhat hard to follow whereas if I’d been reading it it might have been more clear.
But good thorough information.

Historia
Robert Fulghum's new book begins with a question we've all asked ourselves: "What on Earth have I done?" As Fulghum finds out, the answer is never easy and, almost always, surprising. For the last couple of years, Fulghum has been traveling the world, from Seattle to the Moab Desert to Crete, looking for a few fellow travelers interested in thinking along with him as he delights in the unexpected.

Always a relaxing and enlightening “read”

I love any of Fulghum’s books. A jock essay to make you chuckle or a few chapters to make you think.

Jill and Derick knew a normal life wasn’t possible for them. As a star on the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, Jill grew up in front of viewers who were fascinated by her family’s way of life. She was the responsible, second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle’s nineteen kids; always with a baby on her hip and happy to wear the modest ankle-length dresses with throat-high necklines.

Brave and well-written
Revisado: 11-30-23
I’d known the Duggars associated drama with the eldest son for years. But this book had me shouting “you go, girl” so many times. I love that this is a narrative of taking her power back, holding space, a couple who loves and supports each other, a positive example of therapy, body positivity, and a more healthy view of Christianity. If Jill ever reads this, your book should be more of sharing the message than a prime time tv show ever could be. And so proud for her husband’s supportive role.
Wishing them all the healing and lasting years of happiness!

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Wishing Harry & Family all the best
Revisado: 01-25-23
I have never been particularly interested in the British royal family, but being the same age as Harry and remembering where I was on the evening of Princess Diana’s death (camping in the country at a music festival), I’d always had sympathy for those two boys. To hear Harry’s voice and words of what he’s been through was so touching. It brings reality to a situation that without any statement would seem more like a story. Hearing the depths of the challenges he faced for creating himself and finding his place in the world without his mother and without normal family support was inspiring. I hope he realizes how strong he really is. Truly wish him and his family peace and happiness the rest of their lives away from manipulation and fear. Such bravery.
