Great story. Poor narrator.

I love this book. I’ve listened to it several times because I like the story. However, I find the narrator’s inability to pronounce words correctly very distracting. It’s not just now and then either. She could not pronounce many words. I would strongly suggest that she try to learn how to pronounce words that she doesn’t know before narrating any other books. I wish that they would edit her words.

Very disappointed

This is the second book of Kristen’s that I’ve been disappointed in recently. I have literally listened to most of her other books 10+ times. I love them. This book is almost impossible to follow the way it is written. It skips from person to person so frequently that you need to take notes to keep up with everyone. I took a break at chapter 9 to decide whether to bother finishing the book. Since there are many sequels, I have decided to start this book over and actually take notes. I hope it’s worth it in the end.

Couldn’t finish.

Heroine was stupid, boring, and shallow. Hero was fascinating, intelligent, and kind. He was out of her class. Not believable.

Really, really, really got tired of hearing, “Lane

This story was great as are all of her books, but I really hope that she listens to the performance of her audible books. If she does, she will get sick and tired of her heroine saying, “Lane”. It is extremely irritating to listen to. I think that one word makes up about a third of her dialogue.

Narrator is toxic to the book.

This book would have been higher rated if not for the narrator. She was a good narrator except for one thing. All her male voices sounded like McGruff the Crime Dog. Very hard to get into a sex scene with that ridiculous voice of the hero. At times I considered quitting and asking for my credit back from Audible because it was so distractingly ridiculous. I continued on, however, because the story was pretty good. No more books will be purchased with this narrator by me, however.

Not her best

I found this last segment of the Chaos series to be a little disappointing. It switched back and forth between scenes and characters so frequently that it was hard to follow. I know it was trying to tie up all the loose ends in the series, but it was very confusing.

Needs a better narrator

If these books weren’t so good, I would have given up on them. I literally cringed to the narrator’s breathy, emotionless, monotone. More than once I came close to stopping on this second in the series. The first was irritating. The second was disturbing. If I can get through the third, it will be a miracle of teethgritting determination. I rarely make negative comments especially about the narrator, but this was truly annoying. As I said, I like the story but, had I known that listening was going to be a test of strength, I probably would not have chosen this series.

Narrator problems.

I listen to a lot of Audible books. I believe I have more than 400 these days. I can say uncategorically that this was one of the worst narrators I have listened to. He was so bad that I considered giving up on the book and asking for a refund. He overly articulated every word. He had very little emotional inflection in his voice. His attempts to vary his voice with each character was comical and juvenile. That being said, Cody if you just read out loud in a normal speaking voice and with normal articulation without attempting dramatic voice changes, I think there's hope for improvement. The story itself kept me plodding through. It was not stupendously wonderful but neither was it incredibly bad. Nice little story. I will not, however, read anymore books by this author, nor will I listen to this narrator again.
