I thought The Silent Corner gave me chills; well, The Whispering Room ramped those chills up to forty on a scale of ten. I wasn’t sure how Mr. Koontz could outdo the first Jane Hawk story but now all I can say is what does he do in book three?

The Whispering Room creeped me out after the method of control became clear and how it could be used in real life given today’s technology. Once again, the action was intense, and Jane proved she wouldn’t be deterred from her mission by anything or anyone. Several memorable characters showed up in this story that will hopefully figure in the entire series.

Listening to The Silent Room gave me chills. In the last year I’ve been immersing myself in the world of Dean Koontz. So, stumbling across the ability to borrow the first two audio books of the Jane Hawk I sat and binge listened To Elisabeth Rodgers as she told the story. Elisabeth’s narration took excellent stories to a higher level of suspense and believability.
The premise of this story written eight years ago seems so believable considering today’s technology and the state of the world today.

I may be late to these stories, but the old maxim of better late than never holds true once again.

Listening to the audiobook of Broken World was my introduction to Kate L. Mary’s storytelling. There was a time a while back when I read PA zombies stores exclusively. After a long hiatus, reading Broken World felt like an excellent reintroduction to the world of zombies and the post-apocalyptic world.

The author created a believable PA world populated by some interesting and original characters who surprised me in several instances. It could have been easy to fit Angus & Axel into stereotypical boxes, but it seemed each time I tried to restrict them to those boxes, they refused and provided a new dimension to their characters.

My enjoinment of the story was augmented by Hillary Huber’s excellent narration of the audiobook. She did an excellent job bringing each character to life through distinct voices,

Since I own the Broken world series box set its high time I pick up where I left off with this story and enjoy more of Kate Mary’s storytelling.

I was offered a review copy of the audiobook of Bloodletting, and as I normally do, I began listening before ever looking at the title’s description. Why, it’s a book by C Dennis Moore. It’s gonna be horror so who needs a description? Right?

The stories sounded familiar, so I looked at the description and after I did a bit of sleuthing in my Goodreads, I saw I had read these stories four years ago to the month in Icons to Ashes.

Well, having Derrick Halsey’s narration bring me a second go round with each of these six stories made them just as entertaining as when I first read them four years ago.

Bloodletting is a series of short Vampire stories, and in Mr. Moore’s normal fashion, each story is well developed and full of surprises for his reader. If you enjoy horror stories or vampire stories, you owe it to yourself to grab a copy of Bloodletting and settle in for an enjoyable read or get the audiobook and let Derrick do the reading for you.

Chase Baker and the Purple Robe of Christ is the fifty-fifth book by Vincent Zandri that I’ve read or listened to. in this case I listened to Daniel Dorse take Vin’s story and deliver it masterfully.

This is the second of the Chase Baker stories I’ve listed to or read, and I can’t claim to be following these stories in the order they were written. But heck there’s been enough background in each story I’ve gotten to know Chase Baker, the cross between Indianna Jones and Casanova. So, if you enjoy an archeological type of thriller with a protagonist who gets the lady and the object of his search delivered along with a bit of humor and snark, you should give the Chas Baker stories a shot.

Open Season, the first book in the Joe Pickett series, was my introduction to this series and C. J. Box’s writing. In the case of this story, I listened to the audiobook narrated by David Chandler.

I knew a little about the Joe Pickett stories from watching about five minutes of an episode of the TV series. Now after listening to the first book, I want to listen to the next twenty-five. This story had plenty of believable action. Lots of character development and backstory, as well as a healthy dose of mystery.

It’s been quite a while since I listened to an entire audiobook in a single day, but David Chandler’s narration brought each of the characters to life and his excellent delivery and C. J. Box’s narrative description made me feel like I was in Wyoming and seeing everything each character was seeing.

The Indigo Room is the second book in the Shivers Collection that I’ve listened to, and it lives up to its billing as a short horror story. Parts of this story were so familiar to me I felt bad when the presenter shut the lights out to add drama to the presentation and the presentation went down in flames – figuratively speaking.

Overall listening to this story was fun, it’s a darn good short horror story. Kyla Garcia’s narration only added to the entertainment of the story. She gave each character a distinct voice and provided tension through her measured delivery.

The innocent is my 54th book by Vincent Zandri that. I’ve read or listened to. Because it’s a Jack Marconi PI thriller I expected it to be like the three previous Jack Marconi books I recently listened to.

Well, I couldn’t have been more worn in my assumption. As I got past my Jack Marconi paradigm, I realized The Innocent was more like The Remains, my introduction to Vin Zandri some three years ago, than any of the recent shorter Dick Moonlight, Jack Marconi, and Steve Jobz stories I’ve been listening to. The Innocent is a serious thriller with a complex plot and characters who will surprise and infuriate you.

When I began listening to Joe Hempel, I had fully intended on listening to no more than a third of the book and then taking care of my to-do list that couldn’t be accomplished while listening to a book. About nine hours later I took out my ear buds and settled back in my chair completely blown away by the story and Joe’s narration.

If you enjoy thrillers that keep you hooked and on the edge of your seat rooting for the underdog, You owe it to yourself to grab a copy of the Innocent and settle in or an awesome read, or grab the audiobook and let Joe Hempel tell you the story while you close your eyes and watch the movie unfold.

Do you ever find yourself with a couple of free hours, but you can’t commit to starting anything because the other hours of the day are already committed to “stuff?”

Well, fear not, Bang Bang Shoot Shoot, a short thriller from Vincent Zandri is the perfect filler to plug in to fill that free time. Oh, did I say in this case it’s a thriller that will have you smiling nearly all the way through the story? Well, it will. And if you really want to enhance the experience, get the audiobook version and let Daniel Dorse and his excellent narration spin this tale for you. guaranteed you won’t be sorry.

If you listen to my recommendation, buckle up for an entertaining tale of a father and his daughter and their weekend experience. Like I said before, you won’t be sorry you listened to this entertaining tale.

The Sun Also Rises; is the first novel by Ernest Hemingway I’ve read or listened to as an adult. To be honest when I began reading/listening, I was a little lost. But as the story progressed, I came to realize there were only two true characters – Blake and Brett - surrounded by several bit players. Had I read the book’s description I might have realized how central they were and how minor the rest of the characters were much earlier.

I listened to the Amazon Classics Edition narrated by Kirby Heyborne; his narration kept me going through some of the slower parts of the story. I’m so glad I kept going because there were parts to this story that were fantastic.

While I won’t say I’ll be revisiting this story every year as some reviewers say. I might come back to it sometime in the future just to see if the story does reveal different aspects over time.
