Historia
Expect the unexpected. That's what they say, but it's easier said than done. How do you expect a change so huge it rocks you to your core? How do you prepare yourself for an event that will alter your life forever? One breath. One second. One minute. One hour. One day at a time, you learn to live with your unexpected reality.

Not a game changer
Revisado: 03-03-20
A little repetitive, the characters were pretty flat and immature. All in all, reads like a teenage girl's fantasy of adulthood.
Teddy Hamilton and Callie Dalton kept me in it through all the eye rolling.

Her world collapses when that same firm buys her newspaper and she's fired without explanation. Her home is ransacked, her computer stolen and she is attacked. When he discovers Erin wounded on the floor of her apartment, he swings into action to protect her as a witness - and as a woman.

Proceed with caution
Revisado: 06-13-19
This was not at all what I expected from a Harlequin book in the Romance Package. Intense and graphic scenes of human trafficking and all the brutality that entails.
It's a reasonably well done story and Therese Plummer is one of the best narrators around but I would not go down this road again.

Hosting her brother's wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning's life. Already the family screw-up, she can't afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

I'd rate Teddy Hamilton independently if I could. He's great. Tanya Eby was only so-so.
Sarina Bowen is so awesome that story and character-wise, I was really hoping for more. Still, it was passable and not cringe inducing.
Oh! A+ though for the sex-positive female lead.

Therese Plummer couldn't even save this.
Revisado: 01-04-19
I struggled with the overtly Christian characters, as that's not what I'm typically looking for in my romance novels. But what really got me were some key scenes that made the two leads appear so stupid even my curiosity about the plot couldn't keep me going.
Therese Plummer is a dream narrator though.

Historia
Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn't he? He's worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She's almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later, except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut.

Unlikeable characters
Revisado: 09-14-18
Not much plot here and I didn't really like either of the leads. It's definitely the weakest of the Cold Fury series to this point.
Also, I didn't care for the Graham Halstead's voice. He's a competent narrator but didn't do the characters any favors.

Historia
After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store. To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan—a.k.a. Sir McHotpants—witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn—the focus of her slightly, albeit harmless, stalkerish tendencies—to make her an offer she can't refuse.

I would absolutely check out more of both this author and narrator. I loved the humor, the weird female lead. I didn't feel like we got to know McHotPants very well but the story is told from Janie's POV so that can be a limitation.

Historia
When small-town Nebraska sheriff Hixon Drake meets Greta Dare, the connection couldn't be stronger, but the timing couldn't be worse. Dealing with the fallout of a divorce he never wanted and setting up a new home for his kids, Hix becomes that guy, that one he never wanted to be, and puts a stop to things before they can even start. Protecting his kids and himself is his only priority. Greta, on the other hand, has found the place for her and the brother she adores that's perfect for them - a sleepy little town in Nebraska.

Good story, mediocre writing and narration
Revisado: 08-03-18
Complicated is the story of two divorcees in a small town finding their way to a happily ever after. There are a lot of really great dynamics in the book. The characters are well-developed and seem to stay true to themselves.
That being said, I have a love-hate relationship with Kristen Ashley's books because while they always deliver a good story, it seems each one has some kind of "verbal tic" or whatever the written equivalent of that is -- one or two phrases or particular sentence structures that are overly wordy and/or awkward. That can make them difficult to listen to, especially with weak narrators such as Lance Greenfield. His voice is pleasant and he's not horrible at female voices but it really feels like he reads each sentence as a distinct statement. It is hard to get into the rhythm of the story.
It was also a little strange that the book bounced between first and third person narration.
If you are not a person who is picky about audiobook performances or writing style, I would definitely recommend this book. Otherwise, maybe pick up a print version.

I loved the first book of this series and I'm a fan of BDSM romances but this one really missed the mark for me big time by focusing too heavily on the mechanics of training a sub and going way too light on the romance and intimacy.

Eight weeks ago I signed a contract. It seemed like a good idea at the time: a handsome bachelor, luxury accommodations, and a chance to win a prize my family desperately needed. There were some rules, though - lots of them actually. I had to follow the script and avoid dating, sex, or disclosing the terms of the deal. After my self-imposed moratorium on men last year, it wouldn't be hard to live up to my end of the bargain...or so I thought.

There were some things I may have not noticed if the female narrator wasn't so bad ay men's voices. The writing wasn't good enough to overcome that and it left me feeling like I couldn't get a read on Cooper at all, even though York did a great job for his part (as always).

From New York Times & USA Today Bestseller, Vi Keeland, comes a steamy new romance novel. The rules: No dating. No sex outside of the game. No disclosing the terms of the contract. Rules were made to be broken, right? Eight weeks ago I signed a contract. One that seemed like a good idea at the time. A handsome bachelor, luxury accommodations, and a chance to win a prize my family desperately needed. There were some rules though. Lots of them actually. Follow the script, no dating, sex, or disclosing the terms of the deal.
