Amazing well-told story; reader should drop the Spanish accent on proper nouns.

Truth is always more fascinating than fiction. This well-written true story of survival, exploration, and human connection is no exception. What I found distracting in an otherwise excellent performance was the reader’s decision to pronounce Spanish proper nouns (names of people, places, and geographic features) using a Spanish accent. That makes it very difficult for English speaking listeners to discern the name and follow up with other research. And it’s totally unnecessary. No one reading a book in English which contains German or French or Chinese names (or any other language) pronounces those names with the native accent. Why is this done with Spanish names?

Slaughterhouse Five is such a well known classic book, I need not comment on Vonnegut’s work. James Franco’s reading of the book is a superb. Hearing his rendition was the perfect way to enjoy it again or for “read” it for the first time.

A well-told, short (1hr-20minutes) story for 60’s music aficionados. Narrative accentuated with nicely performed sounds. Great entertainment for a 2hr drive.

Pleasant voice of the author reads the book. It covers a lot diverse stories- it’s the story of a wooden schooner, the adventurers who rebuilt and restored it, and the various lives that converged aboard and sailed her into a hurricane.
I’m a recreational ocean sailor and I found it very interesting.

Lawler details an informative, fascinating, and well-written account of the background and purpose of the Roanoke settlement and aspirations of the settlers up through the time of their abandonment , but in the last few chapters his effort goes astray as he delves into the trendy perception of racism, EuroCentrism, white supremacy, and misogyny in the story.
