Historia
Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Loved listening to this short book, and hope that Lewis comes out with more. His research is impeccable, and he drew us into the story. Learned a lot and now are afraid of presidential disruption of any of NOAA’s critical work.

Closer each day to nonfiction
Revisado: 05-06-17
It's been 30 years since this book was written and I probably read it for the first time. Many things felt like events from the distant past, but now feel closer to reality or one that is not too far off. Fighting again for women's rights, control of our own bodies, and the increase of far right "Christians" in Congress who have no respect for women makes this book less speculative and more current non fiction.

Historia
In 1915, Sherlock Holmes is retired and quietly engaged in the study of honeybees in Sussex when a young woman literally stumbles onto him on the Sussex Downs. Fifteen years old, gawky, egotistical, and recently orphaned, the young Mary Russell displays an intellect to impress even Sherlock Holmes. Under his reluctant tutelage, this very modern, twentieth-century woman proves a deft protégée and a fitting partner for the Victorian detective.

Revisado: 03-11-14
This was my first introduction to the Marry Russell and Sherlock Holmes series, and I loved it! Feels true to Conan Doyle's vision, but with a strong female lead. The narrator was perfect! I'm looking forward to listening to more of the series.

Janis Ian was catapulted into the spotlight in 1966 at the age of 15, when her soul-wrenching song "Society's Child" became a hit. But this was only the beginning of a long and illustrious career. In Society's Child, Janis Ian provides a relentlessly honest account of the successes and failures - and the hopes and dreams - of an extraordinary life.

I've always loved Jan Ian's music
Revisado: 01-08-13
The minute I saw that Janis Ian had an autobiography out I bought it! Then I saw that she was also performing it, and that made me even more excited to start it. I've been a fan of hers for decades, even meeting her briefly after a concert at the Univ. of Arizona in 1977 or so. I've been learning a lot about her life before becoming famous with "Society's Child" and "At Seventeen", and she even sings snippets of her songs in this great audiobook.
With the world of digital downloads, I've been able to buy some of her older releases and found out that she is coming to town in March!
THIS is the way a great autobiography should be done--read and performed by the author.
Thanks, Janis, and Audible!

Diverse, provocative, eerie, and inspired, this collection of Jeffery Deaver's best stories exhibits the amazing range and signature plot twists that have earned him the title "master of ticking-bomb suspense" by People. With nods to O. Henry and Edgar Allan Poe, these beautifully crafted pieces pulse with subtle intrigue and Deaver's incomparable imagination.

Loved the collection of short stories, with a little twist! It is great for shorter drives my husband and I take. Have been a fan of Mr Deaver for years but never read any of the short stories. I'll be back for more!

couldn't put it down
Revisado: 09-22-10
Though painfully long, this book was extremely interesting and I really had a hard time not listening to it at every possible moment. The character development was very good. I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy books and though this one was indeed depressing at times, I enjoyed every hour!

Take an antihistamine
Revisado: 01-05-08
The narrator started to sniff and sneeze, which I first thought was alien language. It distracted from the story and was quite suprising. Voice intonations were good and bizarre names sounded like they were pronounced correctly, but the sneezing/snorting was irritating.
