The ending ruined it

The rest of the book is pointless to me if it doesn’t have a good ending. I’m soooo disappointed. Seriously, it doesn’t give us anything. No real resolution when this is a romance novel.
SPOILERS!
They don’t do the deed. He never tells his sister. No epilogue of their life together. Nothing. I feel like I wasted all these hours listening for the least satisfying book ever. I honestly don’t understand all the good ratings. This book literally isn’t finished. It just ends out of nowhere.

Love the time span

I really love books like this that take place over a long period of time. It gives more room to really know the characters and let life happen. My only complaint was I wish the spicy scenes were more detailed. They are pretty rushed and anticlimactic. So if you’re reading this book for the spice it will not be for you

Love Tim Paige but Tristan James sounds like a robot reading a book. He’s so flat and choppy. Totally took me out of the story

The narration is weird. The story is way too slow going. The book is 85% sex scenes and almost no substance. I love the other series in the Chicagoverse but this one is lame in comparison. I was excited to hear tates story but so far the first two books could absolutely have been one.

Like 10% plot

Don’t get me wrong I love a smutty book but I was really expecting more of a plot with this series. It’s basically 90% smut and the scenes aren’t even that great. I’m halfway and feel 0 attachment to either of mmcs. I’m glad I bought this on super sale because I would have been upset I spent a credit on it. I won’t be listening to the other two

Not enough

It was too simple a story. The only conflict is will they be together. It was too short and fluffy for me. Not enough substance for the price. More like a novella with how little there was to it.

Missing something

So the first book was all about one couple and it heavily focused on iris and his issues. It felt natural that he would be the focus of book 2. The characters in book 2 were hardly even mentioned by name in book one. The author dives into this new couple and I had no attachment to the or even an idea of who they were as characters. It was odd. I felt like we should have been given some sort of context for these character at the very least. Other than iris and river being mentioned and having a few conversations in book 2 it felt like this could have been a completely separate book. I don’t think I’ll continue the series after this. I have an hour left in the book and I still feel frustrated by the lack of development.

There are soooo many mm hockey romances out there and if I were to recommend one to someone this wouldn’t be it.

The stories are fine but predictable. What really bugs me/squicks me out is these grown adult men all naming their d!cks and then referring to them by those names the whole book and using little kid words like “undies”. It takes me out of the story completely. These are grown people but the writing makes them feel like it’s a high school romance.

I think this authors writing just isn’t for me. I won’t be purchasing the rest of the series.

I’ve read way better mm hockey romances. There was so much buildup to them hooking up again but when we finally get to them doing the deed it has 0 description and just jumps to it being over. No emotion. All that buildup to just gloss over the whole thing. It was so frustrating I almost dnf.

They spent 3 or 4 days together then several weeks apart and then got engaged. Just not a fan of the intense love bombing. I like more buildup and getting to know each other. The othered in this world are way better.
