Historia
The number one New York Times best seller by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough rediscovers an important chapter in the American story that's "as resonant today as ever" (The Wall Street Journal) - the settling of the Northwest Territory by courageous pioneers who overcame incredible hardships to build a community based on ideals that would define our country.

A part of history I have never heard.

This book (recording) had a few drawbacks (I was bothered by the lack of information about the Native Americans, but this history was NOT written from their viewpoint. I do understand that...the book stayed with the pioneers stories mostly. Overall though, I enjoyed it very much. I thought it had a great narrator.

Historia
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

I wish I'd have done further research.
Revisado: 11-17-19
I made a mistake. A friend of mine told me this book was about the Vietnam women who had been airlifted to the U.S. and other locations. When I started to read, I realized it was a war story, thus written primarily from combat soldiers. A lot of the blood and gore was unnecessary to read AGAIN and similar to others I have read.
I thought I was going to hear about the women of Vietnam. I should have researched this further. Live and learn!
Brian Cranston did great narration!

Historia
Many children have grown up in the shadow of Louisiana's Greenmount State Penitentiary. Most of them - sons and daughters of corrections officers and staff - left the place as soon as they could. Yet Ginny Polk chose to come back to work as a prison cook. She knows the harsh reality of life within those walls - the cries of men being beaten, the lines of shuffling inmates chained together. Yet she has never seen them as monsters, not even the ones sentenced to execution.

Wish I had this time back

I should have returned this recording right away, but kept hoping it would improve. The topic was interesting to me, so I continued, quitting on the 2nd to last chapter. For me, this book evolved into confusion.
