Historia
In Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary, Dr. Pitre takes listeners step-by-step from the Garden of Eden to the Book of Revelation to reveal how deeply biblical Catholic beliefs about Mary really are. Dr. Pitre uses the Old Testament and ancient Judaism to unlock how the Bible itself teaches that Mary is in fact the new Eve, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and the new Ark of the Covenant.

This book taught me a new appreciation for the mother of Jesus
Revisado: 06-02-24
This book was written by a Catholic Bible scholar who had to defend his Catholic beliefs in regard to Mary to a Baptist minister. It taught me so much about why we as Catholics have such high regard for the mother of Jesus.

I’ve been around Diesel engines all of my life. I never thought I be so wrapped up in a story about the inventor. Who knew? Apparently no one until Doug Brunt started digging.

Dolly gives so much insight into what makes her tick. She’s a simple girl, but there’s a whole lot of substance behind how she thinks, works, lives and loves.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Revisado: 07-21-21
I'll admit that I am not into pop culture. I saw his car ad and it sparked some interest. This book is very similar to Hillbilly elegy, except it is missing the part where you learn that he is elevated beyond that culture. He never dismisses the lesson of don't get caught lying, cheating, or stealing. So am I to accept that if you are not caught you've done nothing wrong? As slick as he is, it doesn't impress me. The whole book left a bad taste in my mouth. He's just the kind of guy who'd run for governor, and win!

Historia
Anne Rice’s second book in her hugely ambitious and courageous life of Christ begins during his last winter before his baptism in the Jordan and concludes with the miracle at Cana. It is a novel in which we see Jesus - he is called Yeshua bar Joseph - during a winter of no rain, endless dust, and talk of trouble in Judea. Legends of a virgin birth have long surrounded Yeshua, yet for decades he has lived as one among many who come to the synagogue on the Sabbath. All who know and love him find themselves waiting for some sign of the path he will eventually take.

Christ’s early life
Revisado: 06-19-20
This book fills in the great emotion spaces in Christ’s first 30 years. The author does so based on extensive research on the times and the small pieces conveyed in scripture. It makes Jesus early life come alive. I have listened to the audio book three times as it gives so much life.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

A must read for every person
Revisado: 08-08-18
This is a remarkable true story of how a family responded to the worst experiences of WWII with remarkable faith. They learned that God was present and at work in the worst places if He is asked and shared. Nothing that we encounter in life today is as bad as what this woman encountered and not only survived but went on to bring the healing power of God. You will be humbled and hopeful.

Worst narration ever!
Revisado: 10-20-17
This is probably a very good book, and that is why I keep coming back to it. I could get my money back, but I would like to listen to it. It is, no doubt, the worst narration ever. Would someone please prevent authors from recording their own books? Someone desperately needs to re-record this.

This is John's best book yet!
Revisado: 04-06-16
If you enjoy learning about Temple Grandin, John Robison's story is equally compelling. After being introduced to John in 2011 at IMFAR, I read his first two books. When Raising Cubby came out, I devoured that one too. This is his best book yet. If you have Asperger's or autism, or if you care about people who do, this book is for you. John does a great job of describing his life and experience with autism. He also tackles the job of explaining how scientists are using their knowledge gained from years of research to develop promising treatments that will eventually be available to those of us outside research institutions.
Read the book, treatments are within site. The next steps will include training the masses. It cannot come too soon!

I was very disapointed by the end of the book.
Revisado: 04-18-13
If you're looking for a love story instead of a spiritual journey, you will probably be satisfied. Though it was well written and funny I thought this book would end with the author finding the meaning of life. It didn't, and I was left disappointed.
