What an audiobook should be: full cast, delivery as if you were there, great sound effects, drama, suspense, and a page turning don’t stop until it ends storyline. Bravo.

Disjointed

Very well organized material presented in a logical fashion with relevant anecdotes. Only shortfall is the professor gets a B not an A for his public speaking skills.

A Wicked Twist

Just like Wicked upturns the Wizard of Oz, Moriarty turns the table on Sherlock Holmes. Many purist reviewers are upset by this twist. Ignore them and just enjoy the ride. It is well worth the trip.

Historia
Against the backdrop of worldwide, unexplainable natural disasters, Dr. Virginia Marilyn Edwards (Emmy Award-winner Kerry Washington) seeks out Agent Scott Thomas (Emmy Award-winner Laurence Fishburne) at a secretive government headquarters. Virginia claims these events are signs, and unless Agent Thomas helps her, she believes things will only get worse. Her desperation is dialed up higher with a shocking proclamation as she stands before him pregnant, weak, and weary: “Agent Thomas,” she says, “I believe I am Mary.”

Historia
No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.

Not his best
Revisado: 05-04-17
I thoroughly enjoyed N0S4A2, so I was looking forward to listening to this title. It started out real interesting. Contagion meets recent gut bacteria research (do we really have free will). Once the magic began (firebird, mouth torch, etc.), the story began to be just another predictable chase thriller.

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Realism vs archetype
Revisado: 07-29-15
Much has been written by professional critics of the differences between Atticus Finch in TKAM and GSAW, mostly dismissive of the GSAW character. I see both as valuable. The TKAM character represents the aspirational good, while the GSAW represents common human flaws in otherwise good people. TKAM is more of a parable for youth, while GSAW is a reflective mirror for adults.

Historia
In the latest installment of The Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice summons up dazzling worlds to bring us the story of Armand—eternally young, with the face of a Botticelli angel. We go with Armand across the centuries to the Kiev Rus of his boyhood - a ruined city under Mongol dominion—and to ancient Constantinople, where Tartar raiders sell him into slavery. And in a magnificent palazzo in the Venice of the Renaissance we see him emotionally and intellectually in thrall to the great vampire Marius.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 01-11-15
What disappointed you about The Vampire Armand?
The narration ruined this book. It was monotone without inflection, differing voice or varied cadence. I had to stop listening because it was so bad that I could not even fall asleep to it.
What didn’t you like about Jonathan Marosz’s performance?
See above
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I could turn it off.
Any additional comments?
This was a clear disservice to the author. A rerecording is in order.
