Historia
Eleanor, the charming manager of a cozy tea shop, enjoys the transportive ritual of making a cup of Masala Chai tea, reminisces about the tea's origins, and delights in the beauty of her quaint English village during the holidays. Bedtime stories are narrated by the world's most celebrated voices and written with no beginning, middle, or end so you don't stay up to hear what happens next. They're interesting enough to give your mind something to focus on, but delivered in a way that encourages sleep.

BORING! Not well-written nor well-read
Revisado: 09-18-20
Aggravatingly repetitive, and uninteresting story. It is made worse by the monotonous droning of the reader. I was not lulled to sleep but kept awake waiting for something to happen.

Both lack clearly distinguishable character voices
Revisado: 09-17-20
The Man in the Brown Suit: 4/5
The story is filled with charming characters. The story is combines the best of mystery, adventure and romance.
Emilia Fox did a decent job, The reading would have been perfect if a man did the Sir Eustace's sections along with Emilia Fox's Anne.
4:40 from Paddington: 3/5
Classic Christe! Joan Hickson has always been wonderful as Miss Marple whether in film or in this recording, but Miss Marple doesn't appear in much of the book.
Unfortunately, Joan Hickson has reached the age where she no longer can change her voice quality enough to make the other voices distinguishable from one another, I found it very hard to follow which character was supposed to be speaking. It would have been great if Hickson had done Miss Marple and maybe the narration and someone else had done the other characters.
The overall audio quality was low for both books.

Put me to sleep
Revisado: 07-24-20
If you have insomnia, this is the book for you.
The Other Side of the Sun features a huge cast of characters, nearly no plot, and a sing Southern Bell narrative voice.
I'm returning it.

It would be great if it wasn't so repetitive
Revisado: 01-30-20
Good story and Huge Frasier is always great, but technically, the recording was not as carefully edited as it ought to be have been. Not only does the original book have parts where Like muses over the suspects and victim, but at least one of these is recorded identically twice.

Wrong Narrator
Revisado: 07-30-18
Pilar Witherspoon has a lovely voice for a British historical novel, but her phrasing and word stress is annoying for a Western. Ten minutes into the recording, I knew I would not be able to listen, to let alone enjoy, almost eleven hours.

Returned without finishing
Revisado: 08-23-16
Harry Kemelman (Author 1908-1996) knew a lot about Judaism (at least a semi-secular version from the 1960's) but totally lacked understanding of Christian (particularly Protestant) beliefs and practices. Had he stuck with explaining Judaism and hadn't tried to make those erroneous comparisons to Christianity, I might have enjoyed this book and I really wanted to like it. As it is, I was so offended by my faith being so misrepresented that I returned this book without finishing reading it. This is really too bad as his Rabbi Small mysteries, though dated, are really quite interesting and enjoyable.

Not a Book, but a Recording of Sermons
Revisado: 08-23-16
Any additional comments?
This recording is very distracting because it is merely a recording of live sermons, complete with announcements given to the live audience. It would be so much more valuable, and I would be willing to pay more for it, if the author took the time to go to a quiet place an speak directly to the audible audience.

Engaging, but . . .
Revisado: 07-23-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I love the story. It is truly captivating and held my attention throughout.
What could S. D. Smith have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The author should avoid the repeated use of the four-letter-word: "said". By the end of the book, every line of dialog was followed by "said" except for one use of "asked". It gets annoying. Get a thesaurus!
What does Joel Clarkson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Joel Clarkson brought music and wonderful voice characterizations to bring the story alive.
