Unexpected and Kept Me Guessing

I love a book that has me convinced of a character’s guilt and then makes me guess a few times. This is one of them. Each time I KNEW, something new would be said that made me think, “Hmmmmm”. The storyline felt realistic in a sad way, and with things being different in 1997, it was understandable why there is so much guesswork. I hated and yet felt for the imprisoned character while also developing a concern for others who I would love and dislike at various times as I learned more about them.

I loved the narration. The sweet older lady who narrates for Rachel made my heart swell with joy because she reminded me of listening to my Nana, who I’ve missed dearly. I have never heard an older narrator and I’m here for it allllll day. It gave the character believability too.

Both narrators were good and sold the story. Well done!

Good performance for one narrator!

I often lay down while reading but this book, oh no! I had to sit up because I was on the edge of my chair trying to figure out what happening. Each time I KNEW, a new detail emerged and I was back at figuring it out. Right up until the end. I haven’t read a book this good since, “First Lie Wins”. Sooo sooo good. Totally recommended!!

The narrator did a good job sharing the story. The voice for Arwin was very convincing and sometime caused me to wonder if a second narrator had come in. Oftentimes, I don’t like the non-performance stories at much because the narrator tries too hard, but she didn’t here. There was no exaggerated Canadian accidents or silly manly voices where a female narrator is performing a male character. It was a well protected story where I didn’t get lost in the narrators telling of it.

Very Surprising Read…Loved the Mix of Human Services & Mystery

Another book that I didn’t read the description or reviews for, and another one I loved!

The human services aspect touched my heart as I saw the humanity of the homeless men. As their characters came to life, I wondered what role they played while also being really happy they were there.

The mystery added a good turn of “where is this going” and as it unfolded I was drawn in deeper.

Recommend for a great weekend listen!

I purchased this because I’d liked another book I recently read by the author. I didn’t read a description or know it was a novella, but was pleasantly surprised. I liked it and found myself smiling at the cleverness of the writing.

Read this Book to Get Unstuck & Back in the Bible

If you are part of efam at Elevation Church, you already know that Sunday morning feeling where you want to say to the TV, "You could have called me, Pastor Steven. But I guess this way lasts longer and helps more people." AMIRIGHT?

Imagine not only having the sermons, but now having a book that pretty much outlines from God's heart to our ears WHY it's time stop claiming the cross without evidence of the walk and HOW TO DO IT!

Pastor Steven pretty much takes up residence in your home, grabs a Diet Coke, and puts his feet up on the coffee table as he speaks to you through these chapters. At times you look around wondering, "Where's the camera?" Other times you think, "Jesus, you must REALLY love me to have Steven Furtick write a book that answers all the prayers I have been praying, addresses all the ways I've been feeling stuck, and reminds me that you are for me, not against me.

Friends, strangers, everyone in between who may be reading this far down in the reviews to find that "one more and I will buy it": Consider this the "one more" because you need to read this book if you are reading this far down!

I recommend anyone who has been:
** struggling with feeling stuck
** feeling ill-equipped for this faith journey
** feeling like all doors have been closed
** feeling let down,
** feeling miserable while walking out your faith and like "There has to be more than this"
** feeling like you missed out on the "I've never seen the righteous forsaken (Ps 37:45)" and "I shall not want" (Psalm 23: 1)" busses.

Pastor Steven addresses from the Bible and personal experience the mindset shifts that you can implement TODAY for each of these feelings. Because after all, Christ already died. If you have accepted Him and are born again, that means the OLD MAN IS GONE! We should be living like we have Christ in us and are more than enough instead of always wishing for more, wanting for further, waiting for change. God is with us and when we seek after HIM and seek the desires of His heart, there is nothing that stands in our way.

With this book, your Bible, a few dozen pens (I'm not being dramatic, I promise), and a stack of stickies, you will be well on your way to the change you have been praying for. God is with you and He has not forsaken you.

(And this is exactly what I wrote to myself in my journal when I was done reading the book, as I needed this more than I care to explain and have been so fully refreshed in the past weeks that I feel the rain starting to fall and am stretching my arms out wide and lifting my face to the sky to enjoy the incoming showers!)

Fun Story that Teaches Impactful Actions for Success

I am in love with this sweet story of the bond created between a mom and her daughter after an unexpected death. As mom learns how to create an income of her own while honoring her commitment to her daughter, she develops a fun and inspiring friendship with an eccentric, vibrant woman she meets at the beach. Through this friendship, she learns seven rules for success in direct sales and many more life hacks for creating a direct sales business that works for her family.

Weaved beyond the main story of the mentor-mentee relationship that shows how woman can be in competing or totally different industries and still be each others best cheerleaders is a story of healing, growth, and joy restored.

Hearing it read by the authors makes it that much more powerful. Jeff had a voice you can listen to all day. Lisa’s “Michaela” made me smile each time she spoke! Both of them swapping on the narration shows that they truly partnered on this story. You don’t hear one of them more than the other in the writing or on the audio.

Totally recommend listening, taking some notes on one of your listens, and applying the story to your own life and business!

Surprising and Enjoyable

While it was a bit slow to get moving, I was shocked and that means it’s was good for me. I usually pick on things early and I like that this one wasn’t given away early. I felt it ended abruptly but maybe because I was enjoying it.

I’ve really enjoyed this author overall. Off to listen to more from her.
