Kept me interested

I liked the story and the narration. I'm somewhat new to this genre so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I was definitely tuned in and can't wait to read more!

Everything I hoped for

I love the Orphan X books but this one specifically grabbed me. I love the way the author describes things but especially the way he describes emotions that aren't easy to articulate. The writing is just beautiful. I also love the way the humor is fitted in between the action. I love these characters and the world building. It's interesting to see how the MC is unintentionally building a circle of people around him. That's what makes the ending so impactful.

Spends most of the book bashing other methods

The author spent most of the book bashing other books and methods. Instead of giving you a lot of substance, he simply used this book to tell you why every other book, program, teaching about gaining self-confidence or fighting through fear was terrible and doesn't really work. I didn't gain anything from it and I feel as though I wasted the hours I spent listening to this.
The narrator did a good job, though - this is not a reflection on him.
