BORING!!!
Revisado: 02-21-25
I am 47 hours into this book, and I am bored out of my gord. This is my FAVORITE series in the world, and I am completely bored of it. I have never disliked a Brandon Sanderson book, and I have read them all multiple times, but this story seems to have gone off the rails.
It has become a 65 hr Better Help advertisement. Even the best lead character (Kaladin) has become a traveling baby sitter / therapist. Who is his patient? How about the all terrifying Assassin in White!!! Yes the most feared character in the story is just a troubled man, who needs therapy to become a productive citizen.
Every main character is a mentally edificant person in one way or another. The only one who seems to have it together is Jasnah, but does she? No, not really. She decided to shack up with Hoid, the 1000 year old funny guy that offers comic relief. He is the "Kramer" of the Stormlight series. And what is worse is Jasnah only has a tiny bit part in this story. She may be the only character that doesn't need a therapist, and she barley gets fifty lines in the whole book.
Do you know what it's like when you are watching your favorite YouTuber, and all of a sudden they go off into a Better Help ad and try to convince you how messed up they are and and how much the service has made them normal again? That is this book. A 65 hour loop of your favorite YouTubers going on about their mental health woes.
I'm so bored of it. I might need some therapy just to get through the rest of it.

Too Much Blah Blah
Revisado: 09-08-23
I am enjoying the series, but the third book had me screaming at the phone to "get on with it" too many times. There are now an exceptionally large character list, and they just keep bouncing from this group to this group, to this group, over and over again, and some time I had no Idea who it was they were talking about. Then with all that jumping around they had to fill in with tons of Blah Blah.
The editor must have been on vacation for this one.

I don't know how they got these narrators
Revisado: 06-09-23
I finished part one and two, but I needed a break partway into part three. There is a Scooby Doo feel about this book, and I can't figure out how they scored two of the best fantasy narrators to do this project. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are the only reason I purchased this boxed set, and I'm regretting it now.
The story is just too simple and the young characters are too predictable, and frustratingly stupid at times.
At halfway through I just had to walk away.

The conclusion of the Amazon and Audible best-selling Halfhero series. When The Deterrent comes out of hiding and kidnaps the titans, it triggers the biggest manhunt in history. I can't wait until you hear the ending. What a story. What an ending.
I was really disappointed in the ending until, the ending. I really enjoyed this series, and I am sure I will be listening to it again.

Revisado: 10-02-22
I like the way the story is building, but I felt things bog down a bit in the middle of this book. The good news though, is that it got back on track, and kept things rolling right along.
Time to jump into the next one, and I know I won't be disappointed.

The new novel by the author of the best-selling The World Walker series. 'My name is Daniel Harbin, and I'm a child of The Deterrent.' What if a superhuman turned out not to be so super...or even human? Britain's superhero, The Deterrent, was unveiled to the world in 1979 and disappeared two years later. The truth about his origins has never been revealed. The rumours about his children - those that survived - and their mysterious abilities have never been confirmed. Until now....

Brilliant
Revisado: 09-24-22
So, how do I explain how much I enjoyed this story. I usually don't like it when they use multiple narrators to read a book, but the performances in this one were exceptional, and it really helps with all the time shifts from past to present. That can be difficult to follow sometimes without the book in front of you.
The story is very cleverly written, and exciting as it unfolds. I am going to be jumping right into the next one in the series.
Enjoy.

Historia
The fourth book in the best-selling The World Walker series. Does absolute power corrupt absolutely? Maybe Seb Varden is in a good position to find out. Depending on your point of view, he has either spent a few days, six months, or 17 years playing a potentially deadly game. At stake: the freedom of the alien who saved his life, the future of all intelligent species in the universe, and his sanity. Not only does Seb not fully understand the rules, but it's just possible the game itself is rigged.

Alexander Grant is a little too good at a few too many things. Two dozen martial arts. Twice that many languages. Chess, the piano, sports, forging excused absences, you name it. He graduated high school top of his class 17 times. Of course, no one knows any of this. Not that he wants to go unnoticed. It’s just safer that way.

I may have enjoyed it more...
Revisado: 07-02-22
if I had a better than poor experience with Charles Dickens stories. It was a bit of a struggle to get to the end, but I made it, and I was happy with the ending. There were a few sections that seemed to drag on, and feel repetitive, but I think the biggest flaw in my enjoyment of this book was that I haven't got any background in Dickens.
