Historia
Only four men survived the plane crash. The pilot. A politician. A cop... and the criminal he was shackled to. On an icy night in October 1984, a commuter plane carrying nine passengers crashed in the remote wilderness of northern Alberta. Four survived: the rookie pilot, a prominent politician, a cop, and the criminal he was escorting to face charges. As the men fight through the night to stay alive, the dividing lines of power, wealth, and status are erased, and each man is forced to confront the precious and limited nature of his existence.

It's ok
Revisado: 07-11-20
The plane crash and events leading up to and following it comprise less than half of the book. I was not really interested about the details of the rest of the survivors lives and relationships and I would have liked if that was briefer. Overall good book, though, and the narrator was great.

Historia
On a picturesque street in Sacramento County, California, three healthy saplings stand side by side. But what they symbolize are the deaths of three innocent people - two of them children. The man who took their lives, then planted trees in their honor, was their own husband and father. Hearts went out to Jack Barron when his wife, Irene, died mysteriously in her sleep. Soon after, his two young children were also found dead in their beds. Barron claimed they suffered from the same rare genetic disorder as their mother.

Wish it covered the trial
Revisado: 05-18-20
I enjoyed this book and the narrator was good. The only thing I didn't like was that the book ended with the man still in jail awaiting trial. I would have liked to have heard about how that turned out. Overall good book though.

Historia
Rusty Moss has raised his niece Mia since she was a baby. Now that she's almost 18, he's worried that the life he's given her - living off the grid in a cabin deep in the woods - is holding her back from her full potential. But that angst gets pushed aside when the undead forest animals arrive. At first it's just a squirrel - shockingly violent and almost impossible to kill. Followed by a grizzly bear, also aggressive and resilient, even when point-blank shotgun blasts to the face are involved.

Story line left a lot of be desired (spoilers)
Revisado: 12-19-19
So this book started out relatively promising. The 2 characters are supposed to be an uncle and adopted niece but their characters are work essentially the same so she is styled essentially as another middle aged man in a teenage girl body. Not sure if the author has actually encountered teenage girls before.
Forgiving that, the story begins to get interesting when they find a diseased squirrel. They try to take it to a veterinarian to be diagnosed but are blown off........so they just go home where they are promptly surrounded by more undead animals that attack their cabin and tear it apart and they gradually fight/escape from them to get back to town....and that's basically the whole story. Just fighting one animal and then joking about it and then fighting another one for almost entire book. It ends with a very brief explanation that everything was locally contained and it doesn't affect anyone and it'll all be fine. Not an especially satisfying read.
The narrator of the audiobook was very enthusiastic though, and I honestly wouldn't have finished the book if he hadn't been.

Historia
This is not a typical story of internet stalking. It is an unusual case of friendship and deception so pitiless and unyielding that it opened a door to Hell into the author’s life. This is an unforgettable story for today’s digital world driven by social media in all of its permutations and cruelest forms. The story begins with Susan Fensten’s online search for her father’s family; it soon turns into a two-year frightening odyssey of internet stalking and threats when a posting on a genealogy message board brings her into contact with what she thinks are distant cousins....

Tedious
Revisado: 12-05-19
I'm not generally a fan of books written by the person who experienced the incident because they can't be neutral and just tell the story. This book was no exception. It mostly consists of emails exchanged between people and the author's thoughts on things.
The sound quality for the audiobook is poor. It sounds like the narrator is sitting across the room from her microphone and her voice conveys no emotion. It was difficult to listen to.

Nico Tortorella's debut poetry collection presents a singular voice honed through years as an actor, podcaster, and advocate, one colored with love, wonder, and endless curiosity. But it is also more than just words - it is a sensuous journey into who we are and how we relate to the world around us, showing how the connections we make are vital to understanding why we are here. Provocative, enlightening, and emotionally charged, all of it is you. is a poetry experience like no other.

Audible version is terrible
Revisado: 03-13-19
This is one of the few times that I have disliked the author narrating. The introduction was a large chunk of the book and the author seems really proud of his work. However, listening to it is like word salad.
Maybe it's better if you actually read it instead of hearing it.

Historia
The Chicago Killer: The Hunt for Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy is the story of the capture of John Wayne Gacy, as told from the perspective of the former Chief of Detectives of the Des Plaines, Illinois, Police Department Joseph Kozenczak. The conviction of Gacy on 33 counts of murder is significant in the annals of the criminal justice system in the United States. Two articles give the listener a comprehensive insight on the use of psychics and the lie-detector in a serial murder investigation.

Sometimes okay, sometimes tedious
Revisado: 08-27-18
The author spends a lot of time defending the police department's use of psychics, which I found a little unsettling. I also thought that the author would have been better suited having a professional narrator instead of reading it himself. It was sometimes pretty tedious to listen to, which is a shame considering the interesting subject.

A true insider's story of the backpacker murders from the detective who led the team that arrested Ivan Milat. Milat - the serial killer who preyed on young hitchhikers. The backpackers - the innocent victims of a brutal murderer. Belanglo - a place that became synonymous with pure evil. It was the biggest and most complex manhunt in Australian history, an investigation that gripped a nation. Behind the many false leads and dead ends, precious clues emerged that pointed to one man.

Author is writing for his personal benefit
Revisado: 08-16-18
Did not include much about the actual murders. I found the author (a member of the police force involved in capturing him) to be very defensive. Large parts of the book seemed to be his response to people who had criticized his investigation. Also included a lot of material on several other crimes that were only very tangentially related.
I found it difficult to follow and maintain interest in.

The story itself was okay but the narrator trying to do an impression of Swedish accents was painful to listen to. It would have been better if she had just used her own accent. I don't think it would have detracted from the fact that the story is set is Sweden.

Audiobook review
Revisado: 01-10-18
Interesting story, but could have been better written. The writing was choppy and when narrated it sounded like a high school student reading a report to the class. The author also starts talking about himself in a couple places and it’s disorienting because it’s a sudden shift in writing style.
