Terrible wandering storyline
Revisado: 05-22-20
I know this book made a few lists I think it is terribly overrated. It has a really boring if not predictable storyline. Too many characters that don’t serve a purpose to the main plot.

Historia
Lily is a mother, daughter, and second wife. And a writer, maybe? Or she was going to be, before she had kids. Now, in her rented Brooklyn apartment she’s grappling with her sexual and intellectual desires in 2016. Vivian Barr seems to be the perfect political wife, dedicated to helping her charismatic and ambitious husband find success in Watergate-era Washington DC. But one night he demands a humiliating favor, and her refusal changes the course of her life. Esther is a fiercely independent young woman in ancient Persia, where she and her uncle’s tribe live a tenuous existence.

Don’t waste time
Revisado: 05-12-20
Initially I was excited about this book as I am a lifelong fan of the red tent. I thought this is biblical fiction. It turns out to have ruined this biblical story of Esther and I found a little offensive. There were really graphic sex scenes unnecessary to the storyline. Save your time don’t read this!

My new favorite
Revisado: 05-03-20
I was hesitant at first to read this book because the premise sounds kind of silly and science fiction “ish” with time travel. However it is not. Rather, this book explores how our lives change and how to celebrate the good things. Very inspiring!

I hate books like this when you spend 30 chapters developing a character and storyline to only have the last chapter go topsy-turvy and upside down and ruin the entire story. Very disappointed waste of time.

Narrator mispronounces characters’ Hebrew names!
Revisado: 05-02-19
Sloppy that narrator says common Hebrew names inaccurately. Story is interesting and describes the time of Israel’s independence. Also a great. historical fiction text.

Interesting love story
Revisado: 08-08-18
This book is an unusual perspective of sirens and mermen/ mermaids. This is no little mermaid but there is definitely an Ursula character here. I think the author did a great job of providing great detail about the sirens and mermaids that made the book interesting to read. The characters were very rich and colorful. It held my interest and I enjoyed this book.
