Narration doesn't work at all
Revisado: 04-06-25
The narrators do not fit these characters at all imo. The narrators miss the mark in every way, they speak loudly and with force when the story says it was said in a soft tone and vice versa. Their voices also don't match the characters and their acting sounds amateur to me. I feel like this is probably a great read if the narrators didn't ruin it for me. I think if I read the actual book and didn't listen I'd love these stories and the characters.

Not a good story
Revisado: 03-20-25
It started off ok but went downhill pretty quickly. The h is annoying and complains way too much. She's weak and plays the victim card. The H was so sweet and the perfect husband type, but as the story continued he came off as desperate for love, desperate for a partner and naive. Their refusal to communicate their true feelings got old. The constant talk of old age (in their early 40s) is ridiculous. "geriatric pregnancy" is mentioned so many times. "too old" for this or that, fear of living life because of their age is drilled in repeatedly. This came off as a way to really sell this book as an adult or middle age audience instead of contributing to the story. These things r mentioned so many times it really takes away from the story and imo shifts the entire mood to sad, regretful and scared to live or enjoy life. It feels like this book is trying to convince me I'm old, my life is basically over, I can't have children or be healthy at 42. These characters are immature in many ways imo, but because they constantly talk negatively about their age and the risks that MAY follow that age this book is now not a YA book. It just doesn't work. I feel like this entire book was her pregnancy, all the risks of "being old", fear of living, fear of feelings, regretting everything and worrying about everyone else's opinion of you. This story had potential, but fell flat in so many ways. It could have been such a cute story, but instead left me feeling depressed for these characters.

As a romance novelist, I'm facing my worst nightmare - writer's block. No matter what I write, I hit delete, knowing it's not worth publishing. The future of my career rests on the success of this new book. So, here I am, looking at Tumblr, desperate for inspiration, when I hear a thumping. Annoyed by the music blaring through the walls, I barge into the hall and bang on my neighbor's door. My very hot, very naughty neighbor, Jake Morreau.

Mostly Robotic Narrator
Revisado: 02-01-25
Female narrator narrates most of this book and she is very robotic almost sounds like virtual voice. it's tolerable, but really takes away from the story at times. Ends in HEA, has third act breakup, has 2 or 3 spicy scenes. Cute story, but there is a good amount of boring filler. Overall it's cute, sweet and an easy listen, but if it wasn't included in the plus catalog I probably would have been slightly upset to spend a credit on it.

Historia
My billionaire boss is the absolute last person I’d marry. Until a deal with the devil forces me down the aisle...ready to say yes to the boss. I once compared Victor St Clair to Satan, but that’s unkind. Even the devil treats his demons better than St Clair treats me. I know his schedule by heart. He can’t remember my first name. So when he calls me into his office, I’m expecting another rant. Instead he says he needs to get married to inherit the St Clair fortune. Oh, and the kicker? He wants to marry me. His assistant.

Cute Story, not loving male narrator
Revisado: 01-05-25
I don't love the male narrator, he does too many sighs, deep breaths and mouth noises. He has a decent voice, but the other sounds\expressions are too much for me personally. The female narrator is pretty great. I like this series, mostly low angst and sweet with some spice and end in an HEA.

Historia
Darren Reade builds stone walls in Vermont - and around his heart. Women don’t stick around, so it’s better to put up “no trespassing” signs and focus on raising his adopted son. Grace Hollings indulges her love of old-school jazz by singing nights at the Speakeasy Taproom and spends her days training service dogs, connecting small humans with smart pooches. One evening, Grace and Darren don’t exchange names, but they do engage in a single night neither of them will forget. Is once all there is?

Not Great
Revisado: 12-27-24
Has some ok spice, third act breakup, but ends in HEA. The first half was decent then the story went downhill quickly . The crap with the ex was so awful and unrealistic. They could have faught for what was right and legally it would have been very different. I think it could have been written in a better way with more research. The FMC turned into a doormat. She deserved more of an apology and she never should have sacrificed the things she did in the way she did(no spoilers) but it was ridiculous. I understand wanting to help the sweet child but it could have been done in a better way with more communication before giving up the things she did. It didn't feel like she was being a savior it felt like she was acting as a doormat especially after the way the MMC treated her out of anger. Nothing felt resolved especially with the ex. Then the ending and "I love you" felt very rushed.

Historia
Mabel "Maybe" Willis died a virgin at the very young age of 24. She leaves behind her parents, Betty and Bruce, her brother, Evan, a laptop filled with one too many Jason Momoa memes, and a Kindle library with more books than one human being could ever finish in a lifetime. Cause of death: a text message. Okay. So, I didn't die. But I may as well have. One minute, I'm a woman trying to find her way in the world, and the next, I'm the sender of six of the most embarrassing text messages that have ever been sent in the history of time - or the cell phone. Whatever.

Cute Story
Revisado: 11-27-24
I don't love the female narrator, but she isn't terrible. This is a cute, young love, slow burn with HEA. Has a little spice with the h a virgin. I laughed out loud several times and fell in love with the H. There is a third act breakup (they aren't officially "together", but still) which I'm annoyed with at this point. I don't love the games the h plays. she is young and taking advice from a friend, but it feels very immature to me. Overall it's a cute story with some laughs, an absolutely loveable H, no angst and no book hangover.

Historia
Never Have I Ever been so infuriated by a man I wanted to kiss. They say opposites attract, but I beg to differ. Combust is more like it. Because every single time I talk to Zach Nolan, I see red. The too-good-looking, too-smart, too-effortlessly-charming single dad who works down the hall from me has turned getting under my skin into a sport. Call it the battle of wits between the wedding planner and the divorce attorney. Trouble is, when we’re forced into closer quarters, planning an engagement party for our best friends, I start to see his other sides....

Light-hearted and sweet but so wordy
Revisado: 11-07-24
So wordy dragging out the story in unnecessary areas. I absolutely love these narrators so it wasn't terrible, but if I was reading the words I would have skipped huge sections or quit reading. I am happy I listened to the entire book because it really is a sweet story, but I was definitely bored a few times. This is a light-hearted, sweet, easy story with a HEA. It has some spice, a mix of descriptive and hot and lighter, but doesn't happen till halfway through the story.

I now seriously dislike FMC
Revisado: 10-30-24
I really liked her in the 1st book, but now I can't stand her. An abortion without telling him, wtf? He had a right to know and he has the ability to help her overcome her stupid reasons for aborting. Her reasons were shallow, selfish and could have been easily (VERY EASILY) overcome had she told him and allowed him to be there for her even just a little. Especially since they get back together without resolving her dumb reasons for leaving him and aborting their baby. So what was the point of the breakup, pain, separation and abortion other than selfish, shallow and heartless? After she has been missing his physical connection she wants him back?? shallow!! She is so selfish in this book. and stupid! As 2 very intelligent people they do some incredibly dumb things. If you feel like something is off, it is, if you feel like you're being followed (especially multiple times), you are! A successful, street smart attorney knows to follow his instincts and his gut, but not in this book, to the point of feeling so out of character for him and me wondering how he could be so successful in life. She is a very intelligent also somewhat street smart soon to be attorney, but in this book she is selfish, clueless, stupid (SO STUPID) and extremely hypocritical. She repeatedely punishes him for omitting things or lying, but she does it 10 fold. She also shares information with someone who is obviously an enemy, "but we're friends" in the same sentence as he has a crush on me, doesn't like to be told no and is close with my boyfriends ex-wife and her family...yeah he's not your friend. Maybe she somehow redeems herself, not sure how she could, I dnf'd at about 70%. It was a struggle to get that far, I wanted to toss it at about 6%. Maybe I will try to finish it some other time. I love the narrators and the 1st book, but seriously dislike this book.

I thought my invitation was a birthday present from my best friend. The dress, the limousine, the red carpet...I thought they were meant for me. That was mistake number one. Then my date arrives, all gleaming cufflinks and tousled hair, steely blue eyes, and a body honed to masculine precision. Arrogant. Charming. Panty-melting. And melt, they do. Hanky-panky with a rich hottie in the back room of the event I'm crashing? Don't mind if I do.

Drawn Out
Revisado: 10-23-24
This felt so drawn out in all the wrong places. Has ok spice, HEA with a 3rd act breakup. This one just wasn't for me. I didn't love the narrators, I felt like they couldn't set the feel for many scenes, sounding harsh when it should have been tender etc. The 3rd act breakup was so drawn out to the point of me desperately wanting to skip forward. Many small, insignificant events were drawn out making this story longer, but in a very uninteresting, non captivating manner.

Beautiful Story but....
Revisado: 10-19-24
This is a beautiful story, but somehow also very heavy. It has a good bit of spice with an HEA. It's happy, but full of so much sadness. some of this sadness is the way Maxine narrates. She pulls in the feels like no other making the h beautifully broken, more broken than the author intended IMO. I cried through much of this, but in a happy-sad way. These characters are beautiful through and through. They have outside pain, but heal and overcome together and through each other. Their relationship is everything! Some things happen too quickly or with a quick mention of how it came to be without enough detail or walking us through the actual event, only mentioning it occurred. It felt like a lot of pages spent on the pain they feel, trauma they experienced in the past, serious low self worth for the h, but not nearly enough on their inner strengths or development of their deep, strong bond. There are some holes and unanswered questions, but we get the idea. So much build up and explanation of the pain in these characters, but the resolution to most of it is so quickly done or hardly mentioned, just bam, all better. I absolutely love Aiden Snow as a narrator, but he did not fit this character at all for me. It doesn't ruin the story, but could have been so much more with a narrator to fit this character in the way the author describes him to us.
