Historia
Desmond Aloysius Limerick (“Dez” to all) is a retired mercenary, and enthusiastic amateur musician, currently in Southern California, enjoying the sun and sitting in on the occasional gig, when the hotel he's at falls under attack. A skilled team attempts to kidnap the chief legal counsel of Triton Expeditors, a major military contractor—in fact, Petra Alexandris is the daughter of the CEO—but their meticulously planned, seamlessly executed scheme runs into the figurative "spanner-in-the-works," Dez himself.

Good yarn, Luv
Revisado: 09-09-22
I have to admit, I almost stopped listening after the first five minutes. I thought it might be a good story, but I wasn't sure I could deal with the accents. I was wrong.
As the book moved forward I became more Ii nvested in both the characters and the plot. It moved quickly from action scene to action scene and the filler in between always advanced the narrative rather than being fluff.
I immediately searched for other books by Mr. Byrne, but alas I have been left waiting and wanting more.

On the eve of his medical retirement, Navy SEAL Jedidiah Johnson receives a frantic call from his estranged childhood best friend David Yarnell. David’s daughter has been kidnapped off the streets of Nashville in broad daylight. The police have no suspects and no leads. The only clue: the body of a dead priest left behind at the scene. With the clock ticking, David is growing desperate, as is his wife, Rachel . . . Jed’s first love.

More god than I could take
Revisado: 01-18-22
I feel bad leave a two star review because the book is actually well written. The trouble is way too much god. It goes from an occasional mention about god to people praising, praying, and gaining spiritual power every other line.
If the idea of being virtually powerless against evil unless you not only believe but pray for strength with every other breath then read this book. As I said, well written, but not for me.

Historia
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

One of Baldacci's best
Revisado: 08-11-19
I almost passed on this book, because even as a rabid Baldacci fan, I'm not big on period pieces. Boy, am I glad I listened to it.
As always, DB developed engrossing characters and a plot with sufficient twists and turns to keep the reader or listener guessing almost til the end.
Archer is a man with both the war and prison behind him, but not a lot of prospects. A chance meeting with a rich gent and his arm candy starts Archer down a road that involves dirty deeds, murder, and betrayal.
I hope we see many more Archer stories. I also hope DB brings back the Shaw character, as well.

Historia
A goddess returned, a war between primal powers, and a prophecy to fulfill. That's a lot of crap to heap on anyone's plate, much less a former game programmer from Brooklyn. But that's exactly what Bill Ryder - gamer, geek, and legendary vampire - has to deal with.

Sorry it's over

I got a deal on the first books in the Tome of Bill series, else I would never have bothered listening to them. Boy, was I suprised to find I truly enjoyed each and every one of them. They are solid books with just the right mix of irreverent humor and action and some fantastic characters that I will miss not having around anymore. At least part of my enjoyment was due to the spot on vocal characterizations by the narrator. I will look for more from this author.
