Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

legal 'thriller'

Not feeling the usual enthusiasm for Grisham's writing. Interesting story, but not enough suspense. I stuck it out to see the bad guys get busted. ;)

Maybe - The first part of this book was really interesting.
Would you recommend A Deadly Shade of Gold to your friends? Why or why not?
Probably not. It got boring after a while.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't have a favorite scene.
Was A Deadly Shade of Gold worth the listening time?
It was really long and seemed anti-climatic.
Any additional comments?
I like John D. MacDonald books, but this one wasn't as good as others I have read or listened to.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Great John Grisham reading
Revisado: 10-08-14
Where does Sycamore Row rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
3
Who was your favorite character and why?
Harry Rex, because he knows that he is a jerk and just doesn't care.
What about Michael Beck’s performance did you like?
His voices were pretty good but when there are make and female characters I think it would be batter to use a narrator and then another person of the opposite gender for those voices.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
?
Any additional comments?
I am a huge John Grisham fan and have been waiting so long to read/hear this latest book. I am glad I was able to get it on audio so I could listen during my commute.

Historia
Squirrel is not like most dogs. Born a stray, she must make her own way in the world, facing busy highways, changing seasons, and humans both gentle and brutal. Her life story, in her own words, is marked by loss, but also by an inspiring instinct to survive. And when it seems she will roam the woods and country roads alone forever, Squirrel makes two friends who, in very different ways, define her fate.At once heartrending and hopeful, Ann Martin’s exquisite story of a dog’s life is told with her trademark grace and insight.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Dog's Life to be better than the print version?
no
What other book might you compare A Dog's Life to and why?
none
What about Wendy Dillon’s performance did you like?
her voice was pleasing and she added depth to the characters
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
no, but I had already read the print edition
Any additional comments?
I read the print edition first to determine if this was suitable for my class of 4th and 5th graders. The students enjoyed the book, with it receiving 5 stars from almost every reader, except from one young boy who wanted more action and adventure and less emotion. ;)
