Historia
For five grand a month and a million-dollar chaser, Roger Mulligan didn't care how crazy the old geezer was. All he had to do was keep Joseph Perry Shackleford alive and keep him from squandering the estate for a year. But they didn't tell him about the pixies.

Wish there was more magic but liked this cozy listen. Great performance by the narrator.

Historia
It's the number one rule in this beach town: don't fall for a tourist. But Jonah Lachlan isn't like any tourist I've ever met. He's not here for a good time, that much is obvious. In fact, the brooding, boy-next-door cutie is clearly hell-bent on being miserable. Though he's here with his best friend, he doesn't seem interested in hook-ups. Or fun. The guy brought a book to this beach full of gorgeous single gay men, for crying out loud. Who does that?? And as if he couldn't be any more confusing, he seems superhumanly immune to anyone who flirts with him. Myself included.

I like many parts of this but
Revisado: 12-18-22
I liked many parts of this but the storyline was not altogether there. I love Daryl Banner’s other works and this might be an anomaly. One of the narrators had an oddly affected mannerism that also threw me off the story. Hoping the next in the series is more tightly constructed.

Everything you would want in Sandman just short of an epic television show on Netflix. Perfect.

Great performance mediocre story
Revisado: 10-19-17
The narrator does a great job with this story but it was plodding and a bit repetitive. I was hoping it would go down different paths. Also the author introduced items in the narrative that were not disclosed as plot twists but were just shortcuts to move the story forward.

Historia
Yancy Lazarus is having a bad day: there's a bullet lodged in his butt cheek, his face looks like the site of a demolition derby, and he's been saran-wrapped to a banquet table. He never should have answered the phone. Stupid bleeding heart - helping others in his circles is a good way to die - just ask the gang members ripped to pieces by some kind of demonic nightmare in LA.

In the vein of Harry Dresden but more kick
Revisado: 08-14-17
If you enjoy the Harry Dresden series you will enjoy this hard-boiled take no prisoners series. I like that the rules of this just to the left of reality universe are very clear and the main character Yancy Lazarus in on his toes throughout most of the story. The plot line is slightly contrived and difficult to follow the motivation of the main antagonist, but makes up for it by staying on target with the main character's intentions. Only two issues with the book. One is the author's introduction of useful character just in time to be useful. Think "The Mange". The second issue is with the performance of the narrator of the audiobook. Several times he mispronounced words and that threw me of the listening cadence. Worst most was his mispronunciation of the word "aplomb". I still would give it an overall 4.5 out of 5.0 for its fast pace and use of plot devices.

Way too much political rhetoric
Revisado: 06-28-16
Great performance but yikes the political rhetoric was overwhelming. I read Larry Correia to escape. His Grimnoire series is excellent and I highly recommend it l, but this was too much. Adam Baldwin was remarkable though. Hope he has some other titles that are less political.
