Historia
When the Iraq war began, conservationist Lawrence Anthony could think of only one thing: the fate of the Baghdad Zoo, caught in the crossfire at the heart of the city. Once Anthony entered Iraq, he discovered that hostilities and uncontrolled looting had devastated the zoo and its animals. Working with members of the zoo staff and a few compassionate U.S. soldiers, Anthony defended the zoo, bartered for food on war-torn streets, and scoured bombed palaces for desperately needed supplies.

More brilliance by this duo!

Another true story that you won’t want to put down. Lawrence Anthony is a gem of a human. The parallels he draws between living beings is captivating. His ability to get this done speaks to a tenacity and resilience that we all need to find within ourselves to survive the coming years.

This book is worth reading if just for the final action in the final chapter! Rhapsody's character is developing interestingly as well.

Great storyline

I must say I got used to the other narrator. This narrator seems to just have angry voices and pronounced a lot of the words differently. The story was quite compelling and I do recommend it.

On the run from an old romantic interest who won't take no for an answer, Rhapsody literally bumps into a couple of shady characters: half breeds who come to her rescue in the nick of time. Was excited to listen to books that are among my favorite reads. At the beginning I did not care for the narration. Thinking he was over-enunciating and exaggeratedly trying too hard. I must admit, as I continued, I got lost in the story and came to appreciate his use of accents as a way of separating characters. I still think he over enunciates but it bothers me less.
Thank you for bringing such a great series to Audible!

Historia
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

How one man’s heart changed a continent.
Revisado: 03-28-15
A quiet, deeply inspirational depiction of life in the bush. I use the author’s own words (which he uses in acknowledgement of another, separate personal experience) to impart the beautiful journey this book led me on, “surreal moments of tragedy, exhilaration, hilarity and despair” and I would add: truth and love. It is the expression of perseverance and how one man’s heart changed a continent. A very inspirational and educational book! Must read.
