Historia
Africa is the continent where the first humans were born. They explored the vast land and produced the first tools. And although we migrated from that continent, we never completely abandoned it. From the beginning of time, humans lived and worked in Africa, leaving evidence of their existence in the sands of the Sahara Desert and the valleys of the great rivers such as the Nile and the Niger.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 12-29-20
I was very disappointed with this book. There was minimal information given in a very dry and droning manner. If you are looking for a detailed history that grab your attention, avoid this book.

Jane continues to be force to be reckoned with
Revisado: 07-04-18
I like the Jane Yellowrock series and this book has the high standards I would expect from the author as well as the narrator.
Frequently urban fantasy becomes a romance novel with supernatural elements thrown in. This book does not, sure there is the obligatory love interest but it does not overpower the story unlike some other authors have done. I enjoy the Native American lore entwined into the story. Well Done.

Historia
For most of its 5,000-year existence, China has been the largest, most populous, wealthiest, and mightiest nation on Earth. And for us as Westerners, it is essential to understand where China has been in order to anticipate its future. These 36 eye-opening lectures deliver a comprehensive political and historical overview of one of the most fascinating and complex countries in world history. You'll learn about the powerful dynasties that ruled China for centuries; the philosophical and religious foundations-particularly Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism-that have influenced every iteration of Chinese thought, and the larger-than-life personalities, from both inside and outside its borders, of those who have shaped China's history. As you listen to these lectures, you'll see how China's politics, economics, and art reflect the forces of its past. From the "Mandate of Heaven," a theory of social contract in place by 1500 B.C.E., 3,000 years before Western philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, to the development of agriculture and writing independent of outside influence to the technologically-advanced Han Dynasty during the time of the Roman Empire, this course takes you on a journey across ground that has been largely unexplored in the history courses most of us in the West have taken. In guiding you through the five millennia of China's history, Professor Hammond tells a fascinating story with an immense scope, a welcome reminder that China is no stranger to that stage and, indeed, has more often than not been the most extraordinary player on it.

Great book!
Revisado: 07-04-18
The wealth of information in this book is staggering. I found it both informative and entertaining. The author keep my attention throughout especially considering history can be somewhat dry. This book keep me interested enough that i bought several other books on the history of Asia. If you are interested in the history of the region and whats happening now, listen to this book.

Hard to get into at first
Revisado: 07-04-18
It took me two attempts to actually listen to the book, the first time I thought "ehh just another space opera" I found the narration well done but the story was a little weak stringing it together. Im sure the story will fill out through the other books. It has some good elements the portrayal of the fleet and the marines for one. I especially liked the crunchy comment. I did find myself wondering about why the civilians are just hanging artound with enemies inbound, maybe they should be someplace safe like another system. All in all I liked it now to see what happens in book 2.

Would you listen to Deryni Rising again? Why?
Yes, The combination of magic and the church.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Morgan
Any additional comments?
I like this series, the plot is well thought out and paced appropriately. The mixing of magic and the clergy was well done. I would recommend to anyone interested in fantasy that like medieval settings and it just a little tired of the same bad guys (orcs, goblins ect). Nice to see a human protagonist.

Same as the first book, interesting but predictabl
Revisado: 03-23-17
Any additional comments?
As I stated in my review of the first book in the series. "There are many military scifi authors out there and this series rates about in the middle. The story is interesting but somewhat predictable. While it is not up to the standard of Honor Harrington or the John Ringo novels it is still an interesting read."
